Walking Around in the Dark

In the 30th year of the Republic of China, Bailu Town in the south of the Yangtze River. Xu Zhaoye returned to his hometown for a funeral, but his father died as if he had crawled back from the bottom of a river - there were waterweeds between his fingernails, and there were constant knocks on the door in the bronze mirror of the hall. The old rules in the town are revived: the bereaved family does not look in the mirror for three days, the river lanterns are turned off for three times and they are not allowed to look back, and the bride under the bridge asks someone to pass her door. What is even more terrifying is that there are people who specialize in teaching people "how to break taboos", exchanging taboos for lives and profits, and collecting fragments of ancestral rules scattered all over the country. Xu Zhaoye and his apprentice Zhou Man walked through the underworld to complete the taboos and use taboos to control taboos; but with each game they broke, the underworld debt became heavier and the road under the white umbrella went deeper and deeper...
