White Wings

In 2013, on the Black Rose server, seventeen-year-old Fang Jingchen used the garbled ID “nataiqrurt” to play the sewer hero, Angel, and invade the enemy jungle against the meta. With a lantern and Nashor’s Tooth, he soloed Baron at twenty minutes; with skin bugs and psychological blind spots, he hunted down the top ten players on the server all by himself. The moment he reached 2,728 points, an official hotfix dropped, cutting Angel’s jungle damage in half. At the empty exhibition match, he stayed in the old internet café, soloed the blue buff at level one, and watched its health bar hit zero with a smile. A discarded champion and a discarded man, both ascending to godhood.
