Forest Farm, 1983: The Tree Coffin That Imprisoned a Bear

In a northeastern Chinese logging camp in 1982, lumberjacks die one after another in bizarre ways: their bodies covered in blue-black handprints, frozen to death with strange smiles on their faces. Chen Shan refuses to believe in the supernatural, until he saws open a century-old red pine with his own hands. Embedded in its heartwood is a fresh female corpse, smiling right at him. When a half-human-skin book titled The Mountain God’s Sacrifice reveals the truth, he finally understands: the entire logging camp is an ancient evil formation, and the so-called Mountain God demands living sacrifices. The respected old camp director is the mastermind who has been running this sacrificial farm for decades. The evil spirit in the ley lines beneath their feet is about to awaken, and trusted companions are beginning to mutate. A contract mark appears on Chen Shan’s back, making him the evil entity’s eternal landmark. He must choose: will everyone die with him? Will he become a new god? Or will he become a living seal, enduring soul-corroding pain for all eternity? Remember: you must leave the mountain before dark. No matter who calls out to you, don’t look back! Warning: Whatever calls your full name deep in the mountains may not be human!
