Landmark Festival: the Pursuit of Light Through the Inheritance of Water Sleeves

"Chasing the Light" takes the half-life trajectory of Kunqu opera practitioner Su Wanqiu as the line, and refines "Chasing the Light" from stage physical lighting into a spiritual symbol for the inheritance of traditional art. At the age of 28, she was the leading actress on the Kunqu Opera stage. The light chased her flying sleeves at the end of "The Peony Pavilion: Dream Searching", and the audience cheered when the lyrics came out. Her teacher's words, "The light chases only the people who are 'living' in the play" became her original aspiration. At the age of 38, she performed on campus and saw that students only filmed the sleeves but did not listen to the lyrics. She turned to become a university professor. Faced with the dilemma of "no light in the classroom and no students interested", she used warm light to simulate chasing light to create a "light zone", cut out famous scenes on stage to compare teaching, and let the sleeves "tell stories" in the light. At the age of 45, she was elected as the ambassador of the Ancient City Landmark Festival. She directed the pursuit of light to the city walls of the Ming and Qing Dynasties, letting the flowing light track resonate with the water sleeves and the cornices of the city wall, and even taught little girls to hold mini water sleeves to "lead the light". From the actor who was chased by the light, to the teacher who created the light, and then to the ambassador who spread the light, in Su Wanqiu's story, the water sleeves wrapped the light, and the students continued the light. The record of chasing the light and adjusting the light was finally hidden in the lesson plan, and the water sleeves in the short video of the student Xiao Zhou Nuanguang jointly confirmed: the inheritance of tradition is never about one person chasing the light, but allowing everyone to become the light that illuminates the root of the culture.
