Don't Ascend! The Path of Cultivation Is a Trap!

Paralyzed and confined to his bed, Lu Chen watches his sister suffer humiliation. His dignity and his life are utterly crushed. An ancient book he came across by chance, The Record of the Nine Nether Devouring Abyss, and a mysterious being who calls himself the Void Immortal Venerable become the only lifelines he has left in his despair. He seizes this dark opportunity, reshapes his body with Netherworld baleful energy, and swears to take a hundredfold revenge on every enemy!

From then on, an unconventional demonic path unfolds beneath his feet. His Baleful Yin Finger pierces stone and metal, while his Ghost Shadow Step takes lives without a trace. After settling old scores and repaying every debt, he does not sink into slaughter. Instead, he uses his power to enter the nation's supernatural agency. Following the demonic path to protect others, he slays monsters and demons, breaks through one level after another, and uses his own experience to lead a new era, becoming a model admired by countless people.

Qi Refining, Foundation Establishment, Golden Core, Nascent Soul... He races forward along the path to immortality trodden by those who came before, until he joins forces with several of the world's most powerful figures to push open the legendary gate to ascension and seek the ultimate truth of the Great Dao.

Yet what lies beyond the gate shatters everything he knows and believes. There is no paradise of immortals, only a hellscape! Immortal corpses lie piled like mountains beneath a fractured crimson sky, while several ancient seniors fight desperately against indescribable outer-realm evil gods! The pope, the Daoist master, and the monk who came with him are no match for the evil gods, and are devoured in an instant.

At the moment between life and death, the surviving seniors sacrifice themselves to send him back to the human world. Returned to his homeland, Lu Chen gazes up at the sky still shrouded in the “dream of ascension” and cries out in anguish:

“Do not ascend! The road to immortality... is a trap to feed the evil gods!”
