Encountering God at Maple Temple

In Maple Valley in October, the red leaves all over the mountain seem to be lit by fire. When the wind blows, tiny "flames" fall on the roof of the shrine at the foot of the mountain. Lin Wan knelt down in front of the shrine and was wiping the bronze bell with a fine cloth. When her fingertips touched the lines on the surface of the bell, she suddenly heard the sound of heavy objects falling to the ground from outside the courtyard.​ She stood up holding the bell and tiptoed to the wooden door. Through the crack in the door, she saw a man in black robes, leaning under the old maple tree outside the courtyard. His long black hair hung messily on his shoulders, and there were a few maple leaves on his forehead. The man's face was pale, and he pressed his left chest tightly with his right hand. The blood seeping out between his fingers dripped on the red leaves, as if adding another layer of color to the maple leaves.
