Journey to the West: The Great Sage Who Balances the Books, the More Blame He Bears, the Stronger He Becomes

He woke up as Sun Wukong, right after turning into a pine tree and just as Patriarch Bodhi was making an excuse to kick him off the mountain! Thinking about what Sun Wukong would have to go through later, he wanted out. Sun Wukong clung to Patriarch Bodhi's leg and wailed, “Master! The demons out there are vicious. Your disciple is scared! Please show me a way to survive!” Patriarch Bodhi stroked his beard. “Very well. I shall teach you the greatest life-saving skill in the Three Realms: professional blame-taking!” Sun Wukong: ??? Patriarch Bodhi: Go to the Dragon Palace, take the Sea-Calming Divine Needle, then smash the treasury while you're there. Help the Dragon King burn away those ancient, rotten accounts! Go to the underworld and turn the Book of Life and Death into a mess of scribbles! Sun Wukong was dumbfounded. Why was this exactly the same as the original story? No way! Master, isn't this asking for trouble? Patriarch Bodhi: Wrong! The harder you smash things, the more blame you take, and the less they'll dare touch you! You're carrying their dirty secrets, rotten account books, and cover-ups on your back! If you go down, who will take the fall for them? They'll worship you like an ancestor and beg you to stay lively and keep taking the blame! The more blame you take, the safer you are! Sun Wukong understood at once. So that's how it was! Making trouble was actually helping, and taking the blame was a protective golden aura! And so the most timid Sun Wukong in history finally stood tall! Old Dragon King! Open up! Accountant Sun is here to help you liquidate your assets! Old King of Hell! Your Book of Life and Death database is a mess. I'll format it for you! The Heavenly Court wants to recruit me? The horses in the Imperial Stables? The peaches in the Peach Garden? The Supreme Lord's pills? I'll take them all for free! I'll make sure the books are spotless! These days, a monkey who can't take the blame isn't a good accountant. The Three Realms' biggest fall guy is yours truly!
