Return to Yanmen

Revenge was the sole, relentless obsession that consumed Shang Yuwan after she was reborn. In her previous life, she was the only daughter of the Shang family, renowned in the capital for her fine character, beauty, and talent. For generations, her family had inherited the title of General Who Pacifies the West, guarding Yanmen, a vital stronghold for the Great Yu. They served faithfully for decades, only to be framed by villains and branded traitors who had colluded with the enemy. In the end, the entire family was sentenced to execution. “Our loyalty is sworn at the Platform of Oaths; we guard the western lands for our sovereign. The imperial house is heartless, and its loyal subjects are gone.” Shang Yuwan died in her previous life consumed by hatred. When she awoke again, she found herself a strategist at the Bai Jia Tower. She struck a deal with the tower’s master, each getting what they wanted. She would help him support the new emperor, and he would help her exact her revenge. Did she want to clear the Shang family’s name and overturn their wrongful conviction? No. Shang Yuwan wanted more than that. She read people’s hearts and planned every step. She would kill anyone who stood in her way, be they gods or Buddhas, and give everything she had to make them pay in blood! She would see the Shang family’s loyalty remembered throughout history, and those villains reviled for all eternity! … After exhausting every scheme and trading life for life, the truth behind the Shang family’s supposed rebellion finally came to light, and the new emperor ascended the throne. For her role in bringing him to power, Shang Yuwan was named regent, but ten years after her appointment, she resigned and withdrew from public life. The new emperor asked her, “Where are you going?” Holding the urn containing her beloved’s ashes, she replied, “Home. Back to where it all began.” “Back to Yanmen.”
