Beijing Summer Rose

The gentle, easygoing secretary X the cool, straight-laced CEO

Wen Qi had always been a breath of fresh air among the wealthy families of Beijing.

He was handsome, well-born, capable, faithful, and never played around. With his refined, elegant bearing, he was the perfect match for the daughters of prominent families.

Everyone knew, though, that he had a beautiful, exceptionally capable secretary who spoke four languages.

He also never hesitated to publicly acknowledge that they were a couple.

Everyone envied her good fortune, thinking she had hit the jackpot and married into wealth by getting together with Wen Qi.

But only Ji Xian knew that his heart had long been occupied by the one woman he couldn’t have. She also knew that he felt a sense of responsibility toward her, but no love.

After four years together, they were perfectly in sync and inseparable.

Just as Wen Qi thought the time had come to get married and register their union, Ji Xian handed him her resignation letter before he could even take out the engagement ring.

That resignation letter was as good as a breakup notice.

He fell silent for a long moment, then looked at her firm, resolute gaze. In the end, he kept to the gentleman’s code, graciously and freely letting her go and wishing her every success.

Later, after they had been apart for a long time, she made a name for herself in the translation world, and someone else was already by her side, walking forward with her.

But the man who had always been restrained, courteous, proper, and composed lost control. He cornered her against the wall and pleaded, eyes lowered. “Ji Xian, will you come back to me?”

Roses may wither.

But the romance they represent lasts until death.
