The Gods' Blacklist

Legend has it

The gods and demons coexist.

But every now and then,

a fallen god or a lost demon breaks free of the rules

and escapes to the human world,

tempting mortals, upsetting the balance,

and committing heinous crimes.

To keep the human world from descending into chaos because of their own negligence,

the gods and demons came to an agreement,

forging a pact unlike any before it.

They appointed agents in the human world.

The gods bestowed gifts upon steadfast humans,

who became Guardians, charged with protecting this hard-won balance.

The demons granted curses to those who refused to yield,

who became Reckoners, tasked with hunting down scum who disrupted the cycle of cause and effect.

For hundreds of years,

the gods and demons have worked together,

with protection and retribution complementing each other.

Though new troubles always arise one after another,

no matter what,

they face each new day with their heads held high.

The stage of light and darkness will go on, endlessly.
