Chen Qixiu is an associate chief physician in the emergency department of Longcheng People’s Hospital. Mature and steady, with a keen eye and exceptional medical skills, he sets impossibly high standards for himself. He believes even the slightest lapse in attention could put a patient in danger, and he is just as strict with other doctors. At the hospital, he’s known as the Grim Reaper. Qin Yihan is a medical PhD returning from abroad. Passionate about medicine and deeply respectful of life, she wants nothing more than to use what she has learned to save as many patients as possible. Together in the emergency room, they witness life, death, and everything in between. Gradually, they come to understand that illness affects not only patients but their families as well. A doctor’s responsibility is not merely to treat a patient’s physical illness, but also to heal their heart. That is what it means to treat the whole person.
