Liang Renyu

In the second year of Qi Zhongxing (502), Qi He Emperor Xiao Baorong "abdicated" to Xiao Yan, who was of the same clan and clan. When receiving the title and surrender, Fan Yun and Shen Yue took advantage of the plan to assist the order, but the title of Jianguo was unknown. Tao Hongjinrong wrote three poems and quoted prophecies. He said that water, edge and wood were all beautiful words, and he praised the word Liang as a lucky charm. Xiao Yan then named the country "Liang", changed it to Yuan Tianjian, and made Jiankang the capital. Since then, Xiao Liang has replaced Qi, and a new confrontation between the north and the south has begun. In the third year of Liang Tianjian (504), Xiao Yan, who originally advocated Taoism, said, "I would rather stay in the evil path in the righteous Dharma than live in heaven temporarily according to Laozi's teachings." He told the world that he would sacrifice Taoism and serve Buddhism. As the emperor, Xiao Yan set an example and sacrificed his life to become a monk four times. The people in the country followed suit, and half of them entered the temple. On the surface, Xiao Yan suppressed Confucianism and Taoism with the respect of Buddha, but secretly, he insisted on asking Tao Hongjing, Deng Yu and other Taoist masters to make elixirs for him. In the 14th year of Tianjian (515), Deng Yu became an elixir, but Xiao Yan did not dare to take it, so he kept it in the Wuyue Tower to support it. Later, it was said that Deng Yu took the elixir by himself and became an immortal. Xiao Yan regretted hearing this, so he ordered Tao Hongjing to combine the pills with the emperor's edict, which lasted for twenty years.
