The Last Emperor of the Investiture of the Gods

The Investiture of the Gods is only a later tale, where 365 officials of the Celestial Court are appointed. Here, the investiture is for emperors: the Heavenly Emperors who truly rule over their own realms. Legend has it that when chaos first began to part, a treasure appeared, known as the Investiture List. Whoever obtained it could claim the throne of an emperor. The Investiture List appeared eight times, and eight Great Emperors were born from it. Yet one final emperor was always missing, leaving the number short of the complete nine times nine. Countless immortals went mad searching for it, but could never find a trace. In time, they all came to believe it was nothing more than a legend. Until one night of torrential rain, when demons ran rampant and evil spirits roamed. A young man crossed through time and space, bearing the list. From then on, he ruled this realm. His name was the Demon Emperor.
