The Scarlet Barracks

The fiery red of the military camp, the sea of green

What they left me with

Was a youth filled with passion

And memories I will never forget

And that oath, forever echoing in my ears:

I am a soldier of the Chinese People's Liberation Army. I swear:

To follow the leadership of the Communist Party of China

To serve the people wholeheartedly

To obey orders and follow commands

To be brave and tenacious, fearing no sacrifice

To train hard in the skills needed to defeat the enemy, always ready for battle

Never to betray the army, and to defend the motherland with my life!

Dedicated to all active-duty and retired members of the Chinese People's Liberation Army and the People's Armed Police, as well as the pioneers in the public security, fire services, national security, and all other fields who selflessly serve the people.
