Ten Legendary Stages

The highest rank in Go is professional nine-dan, but to the genius Li Bolai, everyone at that level is just another defeated opponent. That's because he is the only ten-dan Go player on Earth. One afternoon in 2004, six-year-old Li Bolai spotted people playing Go on a street in Pinglong County. He pointed out a mistake that was extremely difficult to notice, catching the attention of Coach Zhou, an amateur fifth-dan player. The child had astonishing talent. Pressed by Coach Zhou, Li Bolai explained that a distant relative had stayed at his home three years earlier and taught him Go for a month. After that, he had never played again. He had studied for only a month three years ago, hadn't played since, and yet could still play at the amateur second-dan level. Coach Zhou found it unbelievable. Who exactly was this “distant relative”? How far could Li Bolai's astonishing Go talent take him?
