In 2216, an unknown virus erupted worldwide. Overnight, major cities were infected. After infected people died, their bodies continued to exist like walking corpses: devoid of thought and emotion, unable to feel pain, and slow-moving, with only their primal instincts remaining. They attacked humans, tearing into them and eating them raw. Anyone scratched or bitten became infected in an instant and died soon afterward, then turned into one of the soulless, mindless creatures. Humanity was dealt a devastating blow, and survival became its foremost concern.
The mutated creatures infected by the virus came to be known as zombies!
This is a story about survival, human nature, and love.
As humanity faced the apocalypse, every aspect of morality, social bonds, and human nature came to the fore. God took seven days to create the world, but could destroy it in a single day. Was this Heaven’s punishment for humanity’s selfishness, indifference, and disregard for nature’s laws, or was it meant to awaken whatever conscience and kindness humanity still had...?
“Midsummer” was the top-ranked organization in the world of dark underground mercenaries. In just three short years, it had established an irreplaceable position in the mercenary underworld. No one knew who they were, how many members the organization had, or where its headquarters were. All anyone knew was that they never failed to complete a mission they accepted.
When the apocalypse came and humanity’s chances of survival dwindled to a thread, the former queen of the mercenaries also set out in search of a solution. Along the way, the people she met and the things that happened to her began to unfold amid the desperate flight...
1:
Woman 1: “How are you going to study it?”
Woman 2, wearing a white lab coat, pulled out a vacuum blood-draw tube. “Let’s start by taking a blood sample.” With that, she jabbed the tube into the arm of a zombie tied to a chair nearby.
Woman 3 held up her index finger and waved it in front of the zombie’s eyes. Its eyes, almost entirely white, slowly followed her finger. “Wow! It can cross its eyes, too.”
2:
Seeing the tent clearly marked as an armory in the abandoned temporary shelter, the woman’s pretty eyes gleamed with undisguised greed...
Woman 1 said coolly, “Let’s go back. There’s nothing else to see here.”
Woman 2 stared unwillingly at the military tent in the distance. “They’re leaving all those weapons behind? We could use them later.”
Woman 1 snapped, “What are you, Superman or Ultraman? There are at least ten thousand zombies in there. You’d be torn to pieces before you even got near that tent, dear.”
Woman 2 sighed. “So we’re just going to let them go?”
She shrugged helplessly. “What else can we do? Even if Ultraman possessed you right now, you still couldn’t beat that many little monsters.”
3:
A cold-eyed man glared at the woman before him, who lounged like a Persian cat. He wanted to yell at her, but didn’t dare. He wanted to hit her, but couldn’t bear to. He radiated enough icy chill to make the four people beside him shuffle backward, but the Persian-cat-like woman didn’t react at all. She simply carried on squatting on the ground, tinkering with the broken smokeless stove.
After a long while, the woman let out a wail. “Damn it! The last smokeless stove is broken, too! XXX, you always seem so clever, so why are you cursed when it comes to these stoves?!”
Her roar was like a lioness’s, and the icy man shuddered. In an instant, the cool, domineering iceberg of a man turned into an awkward, eager-to-please bear. He said softly, “I’ll go into town and get you another one.”
“Get one, my foot! That city is crawling with zombies. Do you want to go in and be their dinner?”
4:
A handsome, refined man with a face as gentle as jade spoke softly to the woman. “Hey, I’m actually warm and manly. Everyone says I’m the perfect warm-hearted man. How about giving me some thought?”
The elegant, delicate woman replied expressionlessly, “A warm-hearted man is someone who’s warm to only one person, while remaining aloof and cold to everyone else. Someone like you...” She gave him a sidelong glance and enunciated every word. “You’re warm to a whole crowd. You’re an air conditioner.”
The man: “...”
5:
A wickedly charming man with a devil-may-care air said to the woman, “Darling, our names are so similar. It must be fate. Why don’t we join forces and call ourselves the ‘Double Mo Duo’? What do you think?”
The introduction is really long and the chapters are really short.
Can I choose to send the razor blade to the author? Why is there no more hair and the introduction is still so long
