The Phoenix Rises Over Canglan

The sickly princess was born with her eyes closed and never opened them.

When she finally awoke at fifteen, she was still a good-for-nothing who knew nothing.

She held great power and status, yet all she wanted was to pick chrysanthemums by the eastern fence.

The realm was important, but not as important as the handsome young men she kept in her prince's residence.

An imperial decree from the late emperor betrothed the sickly princess to a prince rumored to prefer men. What a perfect match!

She said, “I'm best at killing people. Music, chess, calligraphy, and painting are far too refined for me.”

He said, “My princess consort is jealous. She can decide everything in the residence.”

She said, “What even is love? This princess consort has no idea.”

The wind rose, and the clouds swept across the sky.

As the lords stirred, the realm fell into turmoil and war beacons blazed.

Dressed in red, radiant and spirited, she stood in the golden hall with her sword pointed in every direction.

Clad in dark robes, deep as the sea, he commanded the court and plotted across the realm.

The sickly princess transformed in an instant into the greatest young lord in the land.

Watch as they command the clouds and rain, turn the world upside down, and together compose a magnificent tale of a golden age.
