The Little Landowner

All she did was take a nap, and she went from a business tycoon to a country girl. To find a wife for her foolish grandson, her heartless grandmother plans to marry her off to a cripple. Her parents are honest and meek, her little sister is young, and her relatives turn a blind eye. With no other choice, she grits her teeth and declares, “I, Bai Ning, hereby ask to be cast out of the family. From this day forward, I am no longer a member of the Bai family. Whether I live or die has nothing to do with you.” When everyone in the village thinks she won't survive, she ignores them and throws herself into her grand plans. She picks wild vegetables and sells secret recipes. Within days, the biggest restaurant in town has replaced its entire menu with her new signature dishes. She buys good farmland and hires laborers. In less than half a month, she's built the biggest and most luxurious house in the village. She builds workshops and farms, digs cellars, and grows vegetables. With her wit and ambition, she transforms herself into a landlady with a fortune to her name. Just as life is getting better and she's earning more and more money, the relatives who once ignored her come knocking. Even her suitors start appearing in droves. The son of the local headman, who thinks he's handsome and charming, says, “Ning'er, I'm willing to marry you now. I was blind before. Please give me another chance.” Some of her shameless relatives refuse to leave. “Ning'er, we're family, after all.” Some of the awful neighbors who once kicked her when she was down crowd around her. “Ning'er, Auntie thinks it's too much work for you to run the whole household alone. How about letting your uncle come help you?” When she was down on her luck, nobody cared. Now they want a share of her success? She's a modern-day multinational CEO, a tough woman in a landlady's body. Is she really going to be afraid of this bunch of nuisances? She rolls up her sleeves and puts every last one of them in their place. Her honest parents sigh. “They're still our relatives, no matter what. At least try to be nice…” Her kind little sister says, “Sis, we can just ignore them…” But the man who's always kept his thoughts to himself says with concern, “Ning'er, leave dealing with them to me. Be careful not to hurt your hands.” A heartwarming farming story about a poor woman who builds a fortune and becomes a great landowner. Expect troublesome relatives, handsome men, conflicts, and cozy moments, with one devoted couple and a happy ending.
