The Phoenix Rules the World: A Confucian Heiress

What should a Confucian family’s daughter be like? Well-read and sensible? Gentle and refined? Eloquent? Respectful of teachers and tradition? Always mindful of etiquette? Devoted to her husband and children, serving a man alongside a group of women until she dies of old age? Wrong! That’s what daughters of other Confucian families are like. How could a modern woman who transmigrated here possibly be such a proper young lady? Just look at Qing Yao: At five, she turned the whole family upside down and nearly got kicked out! At eight, she took up a blade to fight the Japanese pirates and made off with their stolen loot! At eleven, she rallied seven thousand refugees, cleaned out the prefectural yamen, took over two bandit hideouts, and claimed a mountain as her own! She led the refugees in clearing land and planting crops, and just as they were celebrating a bumper harvest, the Tartars came! The Tartars want to steal our grain? Kill them! Kill! Kill! Kill them all the way back to their grandmother’s house! Check out my new 2021 novel, The Ruthless Wife of the Farmhouse. Come take a look!
