The Unruly Husband: A Match Made in Heaven

When she woke again, everything before her was bright red, and someone called out, “Take the bride to the bridal chamber,” prompting inexplicable laughter all around. # Qingcheng has two notorious figures: Yun Lian, the Yun family's legitimate daughter whom men detest most, and Shang Shi, the general's illegitimate son whom women despise most. Yun Lian is obsessed with the emperor's fourth prince. She tries to poison him, but drinks the poison herself instead. The fourth prince has her dumped on Rongrong Street, where thousands gather to gawk. Shang Shi has an unknown mother and a father who can't stand him. He's a dissolute, arrogant playboy who got his leg broken by his own father after declaring he would have his way with Qingcheng's greatest beauty. For a time, the two become the talk of the town, shooting to the top of the gossip charts and staying there. Before long, the emperor issues an edict, and the two troublemakers become one family! # She, Yun Lian, was the second daughter of a family of ancient martial artists. Gifted and exceptionally capable, she was regarded as the family's sharpest blade. Her elder sister grew jealous of her, and one cup of poisoned wine made her vanish from the world forever. After her soul transmigrates into this body, she is free of laughable family ties and the burden of bringing glory to her ancestors. She vows to live unbound and carefree. But while the ideal is beautiful, reality is cruel. And the file that whittles that beautiful ideal down to nothing is her wildly grinning, dissolute husband. Here are some examples: [On Their Wedding Night] Red candles glow, gauze curtains hang softly. Yun Lian pulls away the veil on her head and looks at her lame groom, grinning wickedly. “We were both forced into this. We shouldn't be tied together for life,” Yun Lian says coldly. “My wife is right,” the lame groom says with a nod and a smile. “So within seven days, either you die or I do.” Yun Lian furrows her brow. “That's a great idea, my wife.” His smile grows wider. “Don't call me your wife!” Yun Lian finally snaps. “Of course, my wife.” It turns out the playboy is stubborn. [The So-Called Harem] Everyone says the Shang family's illegitimate son has a “harem” filled with women he has imprisoned by force, so he can indulge in all sorts of depravity. One day, the weather is fair and the sun shines bright. Yun Lian lounges lazily on a soft couch. A woman fans her: “Mistress, is the breeze a little too strong?” “It's just right.” Another massages her legs: “Mistress, is the pressure too light?” “It's fine.” A third feeds her sweets: “Mistress, is the flavor too sugary?” “It's delicious.” Shang Shi hurries in from outside, sweeps aside the women in his way, and sidles up with an ingratiating smile. “My wife, let me fan you, massage your legs, and make you some sweets.” “And then?” Yun Lian glances sideways at him. “My wife, let's send them away.” It turns out the flirt only has eyes for one person. [The Truth] This is the story of a miserable young man with a complicated past who hides behind a scoundrel's facade as he pursues a heartless young woman with no compassion or conscience. [Ahem, here's what the girls want to know] The leads are both chaste in body and heart, and this is a one-on-one romance, continuing the boundless devotion of the author's last book. A different story, but the same pure and devoted love. Lovely ladies, give it a read, and remember to bookmark it if you like it. Mwah!
