The Khan and His Fierce Consort

She has a stunning face, yet she's as fierce as a tiger and as tough as a shrew. No one in her clan can match her sharp tongue. Before she was thirteen, her fame had already spread as far as the distant Nali Khanate. With nimble hands, she can weave heavenly brocade and skin cattle. Her sharp tongue can tell good from evil, and her bright eyes can see through both people and ghosts. For hundreds of miles around, who hasn't heard of little Ying Zise's abilities? This little girl is as cunning as a fox. The Khan was taking a wife, but the bride refused to marry, and no one could talk her around. Threats and inducements alike failed to move her, until a few words from a thirteen-year-old girl touched her heart and changed her mind. “One hundred pieces of jade, fifty amber screens, and sixteen gold whips. The bride can go to the wedding chamber right away.” She started with an outrageous demand, bigger than a lion's appetite. This was her fee, not a wedding gift for the bride. She was the negotiator, not the bride, so don't get it wrong. “And if I refuse?” asked the Khan, his fiery red hair in no hurry to move him. “Then marry someone else.” The petite figure immediately turned to leave. If they had nothing to say to each other, she wouldn't waste a drop of saliva. Ying Zise had received the pink jade bracelet from the bride who never got married, and she liked it very much. Excerpt One: Wedding night “You're despicable, shameless, and no man at all! Your power may reach the heavens, but it can't cover those wandering eyes of yours. That red hair is your punishment. One leg is longer than the other, your left hand is right and your right hand is backwards, and when you eat you stuff food up your nose because you don't know where your mouth is...” She cursed him nonstop all night. “Shut up.” “Did I say anything? Which ear heard me? Ha! I didn't know you were not only blind, black-hearted, and heartless, but hard of hearing too...” “...” “Ah!” The groom let out a cry and did his best to make sure the bride had no time to use her mouth again. Excerpt Two: The Khan's elder brother, Zise's uncle, was called Brother Nu. Though he had no power, he still had status. High and mighty, he couldn't stand that his younger brother had taken his place, and was always pointing fingers and bossing people around. In the hall, a big man and a little girl glared at each other. “You crazy woman! You don't belong here. Get out!” “If anyone's leaving, it's you. He's the Khan, and I'm his consort.” She truly was a fierce consort. “You can't even show me the slightest respect, and now you're ordering me around.” She might have someone break his hands and feet off and boil them in a soup. “This is men's business. A Lunuo hasn't said a word, so what gives you the right to speak?” “He's my man, so only I can bully him. But he's your Khan, so he can bully all of you.” Excerpt Three: “A Lunuo, is this what you call protecting me? Is this the promise you made? You destroyed A Mai and ruined my home.” The sky was no longer blue, the grass was no longer green, and everything burned smelled of blood. “Zise, I will get justice for A Mai and avenge your family.” “No need. I'll take my own revenge.” And his, too. Xiaoyao's new novel: <Crazy Night>: http://read.xxsy.net/info/251345.html
