Conan Doyle's first collection of short stories with the detective Sherlock Holmes as the protagonist. The twelve short stories included in the book are wonderful and unique. For example, "A Scandal in Botswana" depicts a beautiful and intelligent heroine who uses meticulous thinking and astute responses. The ability to change makes the opponent Holmes defeated; "The Red-Headed Club" tells the story of an incredible bank theft case, with a strange plot and clever conception; "The Case of the Spotted Belt" describes a human tragedy in which a father and his daughter were driven to kill each other by the desire for profit. They are all famous stories that Sherlock Holmes fans talk about. During the investigation of these cases, Dr. Watson and Holmes were not afraid of risks and confronted criminals head-on. The two formed a deep friendship of life and death. Holmes's investigative talent and outstanding talent were also fully demonstrated in these cases.

Wearing a robe, justice is my judge, facing the hawker with the same name who was killed in anger, the moral defense line that had been in disrepair collapsed in an instant. A new grave with decayed grass, might the old evils be buried together? The business world is also a biological chain. Big fish eat small fish, and small fish eat shrimps. Everyone feels good, as if they can afford something to eat and live in. Only when disaster strikes, it suddenly becomes clear that it is all an illusion; full of the urge to return to their roots after falling leaves, dragging their tired and sick bodies, they dream of their hometown. The clouds can heal the pain of wandering around the world, but everyone knows that no matter the city or hometown, you and I are just a few strangers on the earth... The collection of short and medium stories "Our Sins" is a collection of "Human Sins" series of novels by the well-known writer Wang Shiyue, winner of the Lu Xun Literature Award. It includes five works: "Human Crime", "Nine Links", "National Order", "Root-seeking Group" and "White Zebra". Wang Shiyue's novels are written for little people and for crimes that are not crimes. Like a scalpel, they cut into the complex relationships between people and between people and the world, embodying the author's questioning and profound introspection about the real society.

The moon waxes and wanes, people have joys and sorrows, flowers bloom and fall, and poems have joy, anger, sorrow, and joy. Love and hate are always similar through the ages, the only difference is the changing "protagonist" in the story. Probably everyone has had a love flower blooming in their heart, for a person or a love. Every little thought, every trace of tenderness is engraved on the fluttering love flower in the world. The hollow ones are petals, and the full ones are deep feelings. Life is full of love and obsession, and lingering is bound to be a passionate place. People today love Song poetry and love flowers, probably because they cannot escape the word "love". She encompasses all things, and produces all kinds of impermanence in all things. Song Ci is the gorgeous flower of love that blooms in the valley of despair, and we have all been poisoned by it.

Regarding Maugham's style, readers may first think of his venomous tongue, humor, absurdity and even meanness, but they ignore his sincerity and frankness underneath it all, as well as his intentional or unintentional emphasis on fun or interest. In this book, whether the topic discussed is the art of novels or thoughts on philosophy, art and the value of life, Maugham's insistence on fun can be seen everywhere. His language is clever, sophisticated, fluent and concise, but he neither pretends to be sophisticated nor self-congratulatory. Reading is like sitting across from you, listening to him talk with his genius sense of humor, teaching you how to read, the joy of reading, gossips about famous people, complaints about famous works, and his own feelings and thoughts caught between disgust and love for people and things.

This book was written on the basis of six consecutive rounds of introduction to literature classes I gave to students in the Chinese Department. After 6 rounds of classes, I have tried three popular textbooks. I feel that each textbook has its own advantages and can be used for reference. However, is there a textbook that explains the truth in simple terms without being theoretical? This book was rewritten on the basis of the lecture notes of several students, and basically retains my oral teaching style in class. The format of "text + appendix" is to improve the systematic knowledge of the book without compromising my own conceptual system, and to guide students to read the original work.

"Make Fake True" (also translated as "Much Ado About Nothing") is one of the "Complete Chinese Translation Classics of Xu Yuanchong" and one of Shakespeare's masterpieces. The plot tells two types of love stories of that era: one is Ciro and Croud, who follow social norms and family status concepts and represent a traditional union; the other is Benleti and Bellis, who mock each other and refuse to give in at first, but finally fall in love with each other and achieve a perfect union. In this comedy, Shakespeare explores issues such as self-awareness, sincerity and mutual respect between men and women, and social order.

The most famous of his works is "The Injustice of Dou E", which describes the injustice suffered by an ordinary woman: the young widow Dou E was innocently sentenced to death by the government. Wang Guowei said that "The Injustice of Dou E" "is worthy of being listed among the world's great tragedies." This book includes a total of eight dramas and several sanqu selected from Guan Hanqing's extant works. There are two main criteria for selection: first, it can be confirmed to be Guan's work; second, it is artistically distinctive and has a greater impact. Notes should be kept concise and the original text should not be quoted. Some important words are highlighted for the convenience of readers.

"Faust" is a long poetic tragedy that Goethe based on folklore and created with sixty years of hard work. It is called the crowning work of Enlightenment literature. It is also called the four major European classical literary masterpieces along with "Homer's Epic", "The Divine Comedy" and "Hamlet". In the book, in order to explore the meaning of life, Faust signed a contract with the devil Mephisto and exchanged his soul for youth. He pursued knowledge, love, beauty, and achievements, and finally realized that only those who strive for freedom and survival every day are worthy of enjoying freedom and survival.

This set of books is the first complete work of Shakespeare in verse in the Chinese-speaking world. The original form of Shakespeare's drama is a verse drama, which is a verse drama with blank verse as its basic form. Translating poetry into verse, trying to make the translation closer to the original appearance of Shakespeare's drama in terms of tone and language rhythm, is the ultimate appeal of this version. "Romantic Comedies Volume One" contains four of Shakespeare's early comedies. The Comedy of Errors is an early comedy written by Shakespeare. The main story in the play is that the master and the servant are twin brothers who are very similar in appearance and body. After being separated at sea, they appear together in a foreign city, causing many ridiculous plots of misunderstanding. "The Taming of the Shrew" is Shakespeare's early comedy work with a funny and interesting plot. It tells the story of a smart man who used ingenious strategies to successfully transform a grumpy rich girl into a gentle and virtuous wife. In the story, the characters' distinctive personalities and vivid dialogues are impressive. "The Two Gentlemen of Verona" is an early comedy by Shakespeare. The play tells the love stories of two young gentlemen in Verona, Valentin and Proteus, focusing on the different attitudes of these friends towards love. "Love's Labour's Labour" is one of Shakespeare's most satirical comedies, and it is also a court comedy.

Literature牛津版莎士比亚:麦克白

Scottish general Macbeth learns from the three fateful sisters that he is about to become the new king. On the night when the old king Duncan stayed overnight, Macbeth was encouraged by his wife to kill Duncan with a knife. When the prophecy finally came true, Macbeth was backlashed by ambition and sin, became suspicious and insane, and was eventually beheaded by his rebellious subordinates. "Macbeth" is one of the works with the strongest dramatic conflict among Shakespeare's plays. It is the smallest in size, but has multiple climaxes and layered reversals, and is as complex as the protagonist Macbeth in Hamlet. The subtlety of this play lies in its exploration and exposure of the deepest parts of the human heart. In Macbeth's long monologue, we get a glimpse of the intertwining and confrontation between ambition and conscience, desire and cowardice, and good and evil in the individual soul. Many illusions wander around, adding to the romanticism. The introduction and annotations of this book are compiled by Professor Nicholas Brooke of the University of East Anglia. It analyzes this Shakespeare classic tragedy from novel perspectives such as diverse dramatic illusions, outstanding language effects, Baroque aesthetics of "Macbeth", and more than 400 years of performance history.

"Antony and Cleopatra" is a Roman tragedy written by Shakespeare around 1607. It is derived from "Lives of the Greeks and Romans" written by the ancient Roman historian Plutarch. The play tells the story of one of the three chief leaders of Rome at that time: Antony was obsessed with the beauty of Queen Cleopatra of Egypt and had no time to attend to national affairs. He spent all day hanging out with her in Egypt, drunkenly and dreamily. Later, Rome suffered from the rebellion of Sextus Pompeii, the invasion of pirates, the invasion of the Eastern Parthians, and the news that Antony's wife died because of his failure to challenge Caesar. Finally, he cheered up and returned to Rome resolutely to serve his motherland. Antony then reconciled with Octavian because of the situation and married his sister to consolidate their political relationship. This also made Cleopatra sad and angry. Finally, after all the wars were reconciled and subsided, Anthony couldn't wait to return to the Queen of Egypt. Later, Pompey was killed and his colleague Lepides was deposed, which led to the final confrontation between Antony and Octavian. In the battle at sea, Antony unwisely followed the Queen of Egypt to escape and was defeated, and eventually committed suicide in grief. Cleopatra finally saw Octavian's true face and committed suicide.

"King Lear" is a play written by Shakespeare and is one of his four major tragedies. The story comes from an ancient British legend, and the story itself happened around the 8th century. Later, many plays were compiled in the UK. In addition to Shakespeare, there is also an earlier unknown work among the existing plays. It is generally believed that Shakespeare's King Lear was adapted from this play. The story tells that after the aged King Lear abdicated the throne, he was driven into the wilderness by his eldest daughter and his second daughter. The third daughter, who became the Queen of France, led an army to save her father, but was killed. King Lear died sadly beside her.
