About This Novel
"Shame" is a very readable work with rich levels of content and meaning. The protagonist Lurie is ups and downs in various whirlpools of race, sex, middle age, and family relationships. The novel is named "Shame", which is "moral shame" (the moral degradation referred to in Lurie's several affairs), "personal shame" (his daughter was raped and robbed), and "historical shame" (whites who are colonizers or their descendants are eventually "reduced" to the point where they have to survive under the protection of local blacks at the expense of reputation and body). The novel reflects South Africa's social contradictions and past racial conflicts, and touches on contemporary attitudes towards romantic passion and ethics.

Love reading books like this.
After there is no war or plunder, skin color is no longer the boundary between good and bad. Human beings return to the world they belong to after exhausting their lives. Do you see it clearly? No matter what has happened in the past, this earth and all things actually have their own belongings and classifications. If you insist on standing in while you are not within their scope, you may get humiliation. Fame, status, wealth, and love are all like this.
very good book
I read a book some time ago~ It's a short novel, the story is very attractive, and the stories of some immigrants in African society are well represented in the story. Very worth reading~
The path of human development is a long one, and progress is full of twists and turns. Some intellectual elites realize the human rights issues of all mankind, but can other people who have just gained rights face up to the power in their hands?
What creates human shame
It was so uncomfortable to watch that I almost couldn't stand it anymore. The author asked the protagonist to go back and watch a section where the female student relieved her depression! What creates this shame in South Africa? You can't see it in the book, but you have to read history!
The front is very dirty
