Next up: "Late Spring at Pinglan Mountain":
● A fearless heroine × a deeply devoted hero
● 9-year age gap | He gives in for love | Possessive
One evening, as the breeze stirred, Jiang Man got drunk. Beneath the glow of an octagonal palace lantern, she kissed Liang Songsheng, clear-headed yet lost in the moment. The next day, she told him, "It was just a drunken lapse in judgment. Don't take it seriously."
That was when Liang Songsheng became determined not to let her go, but it wasn't when she fell for him.
She approached him with a third of her heart in it, all for the sake of a buried past. Liang Songsheng knew this, but believed that his love was real, and that if he treated her well enough, he could win them a happy ending. The reality was that he still couldn't break through the indifference in her eyes.
Later, she got what she wanted and left for Hong Kong Island. As they parted, Liang Songsheng thought back to her junior year of college. Those had probably been some of the few peaceful days they'd shared, which was why he said wistfully, "We should have stopped there, at that year, that moment. Nothing more, nothing less. It was just right."
But Jiang Man only looked at him coolly and said in an icy voice, "You know I'm willing to do anything to get what I want."
She left without a trace. In the years that followed, she became a part of Liang Songsheng's past he could never speak of. He tried hard to forget her, but she became ever clearer in the dead of night. He never admitted it, though.
Then, one year, as he sat in his house and glanced up at the cherry tree outside his window, still bare of buds, he realized that spring had come a little late to Pinglan Mountain that year, and that he had never forgotten her.
"So after you left, even spring began to run late."
"So I still love you."
The day they met again, a torrential downpour swept through Qiongzhi. She strode into his view in a long green dress. As they looked at each other, she was just as she had always been. Liang Songsheng seriously considered whether he should scheme against her one more time.
During those years when they did whatever they pleased, Liang Songsheng took Jiang Man to every place she wanted to visit. He never dared ask if she loved him, until one year, when they returned to Gusu. Beneath the winding covered walkway, she fed fish food to the koi in the pond. He couldn't hold back any longer. Grabbing her wrist, he asked her:
"Jiang Man, do you love me?"
All his life, he had sought an answer from her.
[About This Story]
● A childhood sweethearts story
● Shu Qiao was won over by Zhou Xubai with lollipops
Shu Qiao had loved following Zhou Xubai around since she was little. People in the alley called her his little shadow, always trailing after him.
Shu Qiao paid no attention to what they said and kept following him, until one day, a rumor spread that she had a crush on Zhou Xubai.
When Shu Qiao heard, she tracked down the chubby boy who had started the rumor. Looking at him in disbelief, she sighed and laughed coldly. "Couldn't you say anything else about me? Why claim I like him? Do you think I have such terrible taste?"
The chubby boy stared at her in shock. "You don't like him? You've followed him around since you were little, and it's not because you like him?"
Shu Qiao corrected him. "A man on a white horse might not be a prince. He could be Tang Sanzang. And following someone doesn't mean you like them. It could be..."
"Could be what?"
Shu Qiao thought for a moment, then answered, "There's something in it for me!"
When they were in kindergarten, Shu Qiao followed Zhou Xubai around for the lollipops he brought every day.
In elementary school, she sat next to him so she could copy his homework.
By middle school, afraid she wouldn't get into a good high school, she spent all her time serving Zhou Xubai, hoping he'd tutor her.
At last, they reached high school. Shu Qiao thought she had to stay away from Zhou Xubai, but the boy she liked was Zhou Xubai's good friend. She couldn't get away from him.
Zhou Xubai had liked soft and cuddly Shu Qiao ever since kindergarten, even though he hadn't understood what liking someone meant back then.
But Shu Qiao ignored him, and whenever they played at getting married, she never chose him to be the groom.
Zhou Xubai was heartbroken. He even cried under the covers.
Then one day, he brought a lollipop to school. Shu Qiao's eyes stayed fixed on it, and Zhou Xubai finally found a way to reel her in:
One lollipop a day!
Later, when they brought up the game of playing bride and groom again, Shu Qiao said amid the bustling crowd:
"I'm choosing Zhou Xubai to be the groom."

Idol Xu Jingyan had finally coaxed his domineering CEO younger brother into joining a variety show, only for an accident to strike and send them transmigrating together.
The good news: He transmigrated into a book, and Xu Jingyan was the male lead.
The bad news: It was an imperial-examination tragedy written by a hater. Not only did it come with a drought-stricken refugee life and a live-in son-in-law childhood husband as a golden finger, but he would also have to survive being poisoned by his mentor and contracting tuberculosis, being framed for cheating by a friend, being exiled to the army, and... In short, he'd be an unkillable cockroach, crawling back up after every setback, all the way to the examination hall.
Then he'd die on the day the palace examination results were announced.
After giving the full plot rundown, Xu Jingyan rubbed his growling stomach and eyed his scrawny younger brother. "I'll become a live-in childhood husband. We can at least stay alive, right?"
But his refugee younger brother still had his domineering CEO attitude, his voice full of murderous intent. "We can rely on our own..."
He collapsed before he could finish.
Feeling his brother's burning forehead, Xu Jingyan knew there wasn't time to stay alive by becoming a live-in childhood husband. He gritted his teeth and made a desperate, brilliant attempt to pass themself off as an exceptionally gifted scholar. "Save my genius brother! He's more brilliant than Confucius, Laozi, and Han Feizi! He's a star of literature descended to earth! If you don't believe me, I'll sing you a song... No, recite a military marching song!"
Everyone: "…"
His domineering CEO brother, after waking up: "????"
