Wild Wind

Ye Zheng first met Sengge on the endless grassland beneath the sacred mountain. Prayer flags snapped in the wind, and the young man rode up to him on a black horse, carrying the pure, primal scent of plants and earth. He reached out and offered Ye Zheng a red gesang flower.

Sengge said this wasn't a tourist attraction, so it was rare to meet outsiders. He was glad to meet him.

Sengge said his full name was Gangzu Sengge, meaning "lion of the snowy mountains."

Sengge said A-Zheng had beautiful eyes, like Namtso Lake shimmering beneath a clear sky.

Sengge said he couldn't leave this sacred mountain, just as A-Zheng, no matter how long he wandered far away, would eventually return to the glittering world of steel and concrete.

Later, Sengge quietly whispered in his ear,

"But A-Zheng, please don't forget me."

Gangzu Sengge was just one of the countless ordinary people Ye Zheng met in Tibet.

Aside from being a little wilder, having brighter eyes, looking more handsome, and being more genuine, there wasn't much about him that stood out.

So Ye Zheng didn't know why he couldn't stop thinking about that encounter.

On countless sleepless nights, Ye Zheng would remember Sengge galloping across the grassland.

Sengge always said he was a lion of the snowy mountains.

But Ye Zheng thought he was more like the fierce, untamed wind sweeping across them.
