A real fox spirit in a big, bad-wolf disguise x a geologist whose life hangs by a single bar of health
Unfinished. Don't read!!!!
Three years ago, Gu Jie went to the Kunlun Mountains on a scientific expedition. He should have been buried in the avalanche on Yeta Peak, but somehow survived against all odds.
Of the thirty-six people on the expedition, he was the only one who wasn't buried beneath the snow. The bodies of the other thirty-five have never been found.
Everyone celebrated his miraculous survival. He alone thought the miracle was too bizarre to be true
He later heard from the rescue team that he'd been found two kilometers from the mountain hit by the avalanche. He couldn't figure out how he had managed to travel those two kilometers when his vital signs had been almost nonexistent.
No one could answer him. A white fox had been curled up beside him when he was rescued, but foxes can't talk.
Later, he adopted the white fox. It was clingy, completely unlike the foxes described in books.
Every night, the fox went to sleep on the living-room sofa, but in the morning, Gu Jie would find it in his bed. Heaven knew why a creature like a fox could open doors.

Three years later, a harbinger of the Yeta Peak avalanche, the strange sight known as "Red Lotuses Blooming Overnight," appeared once more at the foot of the Kunlun Mountains.
Ignoring everyone's attempts to dissuade him, Gu Jie booked a flight to Qinghai for that very night.
More than ten hours later, Gu Jie stood by a salt lake in full bloom with red lotuses. Without warning, the ground caved in. Just as he thought he was doomed, someone dropped from the sky and saved him.
The man said his name was Bai Jiu.
Gu Jie thought Bai Jiu was strange. He had a home but refused to go back, following Gu Jie everywhere and doing everything he could to earn a word of approval. Stranger still, he was intensely hostile toward every male creature around Gu Jie.
Gu Jie thought there might be something wrong with Bai Jiu's brain, possibly in a clinical sense.
Once he got used to him, Gu Jie thought Bai Jiu was pretty smart. He also looked good when he smiled, with bright eyes just like his own fox's.
As a fox spirit, in the literal sense, Bai Jiu knew all about his species' fine tradition of living off their looks. Unfortunately, Gu Jie wasn't someone who cared about appearances.
So Bai Jiu followed Gu Jie up snowy mountains and down to salt lakes, west across deserts and east over grasslands, all in the hope that Gu Jie would see his one-of-a-kind, radiant inner soul along the way.
Unfortunately, Gu Jie wasn't interested in his inner self either.
Bai Jiu ground his teeth in frustration, treating every flashy person who showed up around Gu Jie with ulterior motives as an enemy. He hid his fox tail and threw himself into competing with the other men for Gu Jie's attention.
But then he discovered that Gu Jie had known about his fox tail all along, and that each of his rivals had approached Gu Jie with an agenda of their own.
So he was the only one here trying to keep it pure!
Fuming, Bai Jiu picked the lock on the bedroom door in the middle of the night and pounced right onto Gu Jie in the dark. His fingers traced the line of the man's waist and moved lower. "Professor Gu, after all that, I'm the only one who wants nothing from you."
Gu Jie arched his head back and gasped, his grip crumpling the sheets. His words came out in broken fragments. "Are you sure you... want nothing?"
Bai Jiu smiled without an ounce of restraint. "...I want you."
