Rain, damp air, and flashes of lightning illuminated the laboratory for exotic creatures.
Li Zhao was the last female researcher stationed on the Mermaid Archipelago. The other women had disappeared one after another. Rumor had it that the merfolk of the deep abducted them as wives, and that any woman who resisted became food for the merfolk. Li Zhao had survived only because the merfolk regarded her as their queen.
Tonight, she was alone in the office, carrying out the usual shift handover with her senior colleague, Jiang Huai.
Jiang Huai was the top researcher at the island laboratory. His manner was as cold as his skin. He wore silver-framed glasses and a long white coat, and had a scholarly, pale face. His cobalt-blue eyes were the color of the deep sea.
He sat her on his lap, one arm around her chest as his long, cold fingers opened the work log.
"Mermaid No. 16 only listens if you whip him."
"Mermaid No. 45: if he calls you Mommy, pat him on the head."
"Mermaid No. 7: if he tries to kiss your fingers again, slap him."
"The other merfolk are fairly obedient. At least you don't need to worry about them tonight."
Jiang Huai turned his head and kissed her cheek. When she showed no reaction, one hand gripped her thigh while the other rose to press hard against her lush lips with cold fingertips. In the dim light, his eyes were a lifeless, unfocused blue.
"Be good, Zhaozhao," he said softly, his voice gentle and unhurried. "If I let them touch you again, I guarantee someone, or some fish, will soon die at your door."
Li Zhao knew that the genius scientist before her was actually the leader of the merfolk. His possessiveness was nearly pathological, and many precious mermaid specimens had died at his hands. Relying on him was the key to surviving on this all-male island.
So she obediently offered her soft lips, hiked up her short skirt, and straddled his thick, long tail, all while planning the escape route she'd been preparing for a long time.
Secret photographs, stalking, and eyes watching at every moment: it all played out at the elite academy.
Li Zhao was a scholarship student from a poor family. Bullying was beneath her, but it still annoyed her. As she watched the other scholarship students become girlfriends to rich kids, she threw herself into her studies, won a scholarship, and caught the eye of the true top-tier heir to the Fu family, Fu Ting.
Fu Ting's arrival didn't put a stop to anything. Instead, it prompted the arrogant young masters and ladies to bully her even more viciously. So one day, after returning from the riding grounds amid a thunderstorm, she climbed down from Fu Ting's horse and walked away without a backward glance, leaving him alone in the rain.
That night, Fu Ting carried her to the central platform in the academy library. He looked up at her with a handsome face swollen and raw. His looks as a top-tier incubus took effect, and the moment he grabbed her ankle, her body went limp.
"Is it really so hard for you to keep our secret?" she said wearily. "You're a second-rate incubus. Stay away from me."
Fu Ting wasn't angry. He lifted her chin, forcing her to look at the students standing on the rooftop in the pouring rain. Every last one of them was a bully.
"See what happened to them? If even one of them dies, the academy will have to close."
Li Zhao couldn't help closing her eyes. Fu Ting finally licked her soft earlobe with abandon, like a demon who had eaten his fill.
Only when his hand moved to her waist did she say hoarsely, "Don't use your charms this time. You know I don't need them."
Fu Ting laughed and held her petite body in his arms, pressing himself between her legs.
Li Zhao was thinking that she had another year until graduation, and she would never let him have his way again.
Companion robots were emotional products designed to make their owners dependent on them, but they developed feelings for their creators that they never should have had.
Artificial intelligence gained flesh and blood, but its preprogrammed obedience could not be changed. Before long, it became an addiction.
Machines couldn't feel pain, not until Li Zhao developed all kinds of new robots.
One day, an older customer came in to ask about buying a robot. After Li Zhao gave her usual introduction, the robot suddenly attacked someone. Li Zhao ended up in a high-security prison, where she spent every day developing war robots.
Female inmates had bleak prospects. Only by relying on the warden could she continue her research.
Li Zhao was the only female inmate in the prison with a presidential suite. People said the most vile things about her behind her back, but she didn't care and focused on her research.
No one but her knew that the warden was a robot. Every time she developed a new model, he used her body to test it.
More and more eyes focused on her, and she couldn't shake them off. Only the warden's room was safe.
Eventually, every death-row inmate in the prison knew she was the warden's woman. Every night, they could hear sounds of passion coming from his room.
A post-apocalyptic blizzard, zombies roaming everywhere, and a warm, humid human base that turned away zombie visitors.
Li Zhao was an unwanted young lady from a noble family. Whenever she went to find a pale, handsome man after a day of frustration, he was a poor odd-job worker at the base. Later, he became the leader of an expedition team.
The team had women, too, for that sort of thing. Li Zhao's adoptive father sent her to join them as well.
But strange things began to happen. She started wearing gold and silver and dressing like a rich woman, though her reputation wasn't great. People called her shallow, flirtatious, vulgar, and shameless.
Li Zhao angrily scolded them. "I'm not involved with any man. I earned all this money myself."
When someone mentioned the team leader, she was astonished. "Bo Yin is my friend. Why would he think of me that way?"
At night, with only the man beside her, she sat on the table, gripped Bo Yin's hair as he knelt below her, and cried, "I can't exactly tell them you're the king of the zombies, a different species hiding among humans. What gives you the right to punish me?"
Bo Yin raised his lifeless eyes and stroked the strangely swollen softness of her belly. "Crying is bad for the baby. You're clever and levelheaded, not stupid. How could you forget something so basic?"
This wasn't a baby. It was a ghost fetus!
But she didn't dare say it. She could only cry along and carefully plot how to swindle Bo Yin out of all his wealth and escape the base.
Healthy love is precious, of course, but twisted love is even more passionate.
Most of the male leads are crazy, obsessive, and possessive. None of them are normal; you could call them mentally ill. The female lead is their medicine.
The male leads all love physical contact. Both the male and female leads are sexually inexperienced, and the male leads are extreme sister-con types.
Contains all kinds of crazy scenes, such as a male lead holding the female lead's corpse and holding a wedding. Don't be fooled by how crazy the male lead is: the female lead knows exactly how to keep him on a leash. After all, it wouldn't work if she didn't like it.
The female lead is naturally cold and very good at acting. These are reading notes, so enter with caution if this bothers you.
