Meiqi Li transmigrates into the fairy tale book she used to read to her little sister at bedtime. Here, fairies turn pumpkins into carriages, make maids into princesses, and help heartbroken girls find true love’s kiss.
Sounds nice, right?
But the moment Meiqi transmigrates, she kills someone.
Fortunately, it’s none other than the most terrifying black wizard in the Fairy Tale Kingdom.
The problem is, that doesn’t mean she wants to attend the Fairy Magic Academy, much less become the next Fairy Godmother!
The Magic Association seems convinced that killing the black wizard means she’s the chosen one destined to save the fairy-tale world.
So Meiqi has no choice but to sit at a desk wrapped in pink roses, listening to her rabbit-headed teacher munch on carrots while explaining how wishes come true.
Her only wish is to finish her magical internship, “granting the wishes of seven commoners before the blood moon,” graduate, and go home to a world where mice don’t gossip and princesses don’t get poisoned by apples.
Then the dead black wizard’s ghost suddenly appears at her bedside, cheerfully asking her to make him a new body.
“Fairies are all liars, dear Meiqi.” He cups his transparent face in his hands. (Why can ghosts cup transparent faces with transparent hands? Meiqi can’t figure it out.) He looks at her. “They ask so much of you, but all I ask is that you don’t make me too ugly.”
Meiqi: “The clay figures I made as a kid were so ugly they made my classmates cry.”
Black Wizard: “...That’s fine. We won’t use clay.”
“Anyway, forget about listening to them. Come help me. After all, if I could summon you to this world, I can take you away from it, too.”
And so, Meiqi, a fairy godmother intern, begins her fairy-tale life of juggling her internship and building a person.
1. A Western fantasy fairy-tale style with a touch of gothic (?), drawing partly on Disney, partly on the Brothers Grimm and Hans Christian Andersen, and partly on my own inventions.
2. The male lead has no body at first (he’s dead, after all). The two of them love and fight each other, but neither takes the fighting too seriously.
