Everyone knows that on the very first day Chu Xingliu, a rising star of the Federation, made a name for himself as an omega, he openly challenged Jiang Chengyu, the Federation's top alpha, in front of the media:
"The waves behind push the waves ahead. The old waves can die on the beach now."
The public waited for a show, and got one. Over the course of four years at university, Chu Xingliu broke every one of Jiang Chengyu's records.
Then, on his first day at work, he gave Jiang Chengyu a thumbs-up, then turned it upside down.
From then on, they became sworn enemies who could fight like there was no tomorrow without even meeting, each wanting the other gone.
Chu Xingliu called him a hypocrite who pretended to be above it all.
Jiang Chengyu thought he was unreliable.
Chu Xingliu mocked him as backward and conservative, hardly alpha material.
Jiang Chengyu looked down on him as reckless and rash, more hotheaded than any alpha.
They shared life and death on the battlefield, then went their separate ways as soon as they left it. Even one more glance at each other felt unlucky.

The two people universally known to be at odds in the Federation didn't make peace under the influence of their high compatibility. Instead, its side effects gave them a new way to fight.
At a tactical conference, Jiang Chengyu was speaking eloquently onstage when his waist and the back of his neck suddenly began tingling and itching.
At a public lecture, Chu Xingliu was demonstrating combat techniques for his fans when his right leg nearly gave way and dropped him to his knees.
The two ran into each other during their heat cycles and started arguing. Jiang Chengyu clutched the hot back of his neck, gritting his teeth, while Chu Xingliu pressed his tongue against his dry palate, furious.
From then on, the two took an unconventional path, veering further and further off course until
Chu Xingliu grabbed him by the throat, murderous intent in his eyes. "Jiang, you old dog, if you rile people up to reject my proposal again, I'll make you pay!"
Jiang Chengyu grabbed the back of his neck and smiled hypocritically. "If you gather people to sabotage my plans again, I'll do it all over again. And once more, who's making whom pay?"
