Astia is a clone from Metropolis.
After blowing up her guardian's multi-billion-yuan project for the Nth time, she gets a reward: a trip to Gotham!
Having tasted freedom for the first time, Astia explores Gotham like a game, with no regard for anyone else's well-being.
After clearing the beginner's dungeon, she wins a roommate: a big red bird who recently claimed not to know her.
The bird insists Gotham is dangerous and that if she wanders around alone, she'll get tricked into Arkham.
Where's the danger? Astia looks around with her gun drawn, utterly bewildered. But she really wants to eat, so she agrees to share the rent.
In the very first month, she blows through all her roommate's savings, wrecks the house, and causes a disaster of epic proportions.
Astia looks pitifully at her roommate. "You're mad. Are you going to kick me out?"
Her roommate closes his eyes. "...We need to make a lot of money."
And so begins the Gotham criminals' ordeal.
After picking up an abandoned puppy, Jason Todd's daily life becomes a little surreal.
Every day, he has to walk his roommate, feed his roommate, play with his roommate, get crashed into by his roommate, and tell his roommate that people can't behave like that... Never mind, there's no point telling a puppy these things.
He doesn't need a therapist anymore. As long as his blood pressure stays healthy, that's a win.
Though Astia often gives him a headache, he could never abandon her.
Because she needs him.
Batman is very wary of the mysterious person around his son.
The stranger is powerful, their character questionable, and they often do things that leave him baffled.
So he sends the world's second-best detective to keep an eye on them.
Tim Drake: "Relax. I'll have her eating out of my hand."
Not long after.
Tim Drake: "She's dragging me along the ground, but don't rescue me."
His plan to win her over has its own pace.
Batman: "...I'm calling your big brother."
Jason Todd returns home with great difficulty after a business trip, only to discover that the puppy he left behind hasn't wrecked the house.
But she's gone missing.
A note is stuck to the bedroom door: "Recovering at Wayne Manor. Do not disturb."
It's signed by Tim Drake.
Jason Todd: "?"
Jason Todd turns beet red.
Metropolis's richest man, number one on the human leaderboard.
He poured his heart and soul into three years of work and personally raised a clone.
Then, once the novelty wore off, he realized he'd created a beagle.
After countless cycles of trying to teach her with no success, and being unable to bring himself to kill her,
he decided to send Astia to Gotham for advanced training.
Later, he hears from his son that the Wayne family has claimed Astia.
Mr. Lu: "...?"
He has never been more impressed by the richest family next door.
He feels no fury over his own child being kidnapped.
Only deep sympathy for the kidnapper.
Still, he has to get his creation back to fight the Justice League.
The second time he meets the kidnapper, he's confronted with: "You abused her?!"
Mr. Lu: "?"
Astia loves adventure, food, and people.
She wants to be happy and free, and she thinks her world should revolve around her.
But she can spare a tiny bit of the spotlight for her guardian, her roommate, and the little detective.
They all say that means she's riding on their heads. People are mean!
She likes people.
A few things to know before reading:
1. The heroine has a beagle-like personality: a high-energy dog with a strong sense of entitlement, still learning how to socialize in Gotham.
2. She's a clone, with half Mr. Lu's DNA and half mysterious DNA.
3. A lighthearted, sweet slice-of-life story. As usual, the Batfamily are friendly and the villains get picked on. The world can be thought of as half Lego universe.
4. In addition to the neighboring Marvel universe, this also crosses over with POI, BCS, and TBBT, and there may be some movies too.
5. The pairing isn't decided yet. Most likely there will be alternate endings. They're all equally dear to me.
6. I might change the title again, orz. I haven't thought of one I'm completely happy with.
This is a cute idea I came up with while chatting with a friend. I'm working on building up a backlog while recovering from illness. If you're interested, please add it to your favorites. Thanks for your support!
