With her family in crisis, Valeria is forced to return to the United States for an arranged marriage.
The good news: her husband is handsome and rich, and comes with an adopted son. All she has to do is play a role in public.
The bad news: he's her high school rival, Gotham's Prince Bwayne.
Valeria suspects they'll want to strangle each other on their wedding day.
Instead, her husband is gentle and considerate, acting like a sweet, unambitious billionaire.
Valeria: This is weird. Who switched my husband?
Bwayne is a billionaire by day, a vigilante by night, and a father around the clock.
Now, thanks to a family pact, he's also a husband, expected to shelter the rival he hasn't seen in ten years.
Instead, his wife is listless and indifferent, acting like she couldn't care less about him.
Bwayne: This is weird. Who switched my wife?
The two people in the world least likely to fall in love with each other are bound by responsibility and begin playing the most intimate couple in the world.
They even try to become competent parents… Wait, why are there more and more kids? How are they going to negotiate custody after the divorce?
The kids give a thumbs-up to their parents' marriage: loving in public, at each other's throats at home.
On their wedding anniversary, Valeria discovers that Batman is actually the husband sleeping next door.
She looks at the unconscious man in black sprawled across her lap and touches her ring.
For the kids' sake, she decides to be a considerate wife.
Breaking news: The billionaire's wife has taken a special interest in Batman, and may have fallen for him.
Everyone feels sorry for Bwayne and urges him to be understanding. After all, he's Batman!
Bwayne defends his wife: Batman is entirely to blame!
Bwayne doesn't know his secret identity has been exposed. He only suspects his wife of having ulterior motives and is at his wit's end.
Fortunately, they'll get divorced sooner or later.
After that, his ex-wife can flirt with whoever she wants.
On the anniversary of their divorce, he accidentally falls asleep in his ex-wife's bed.
After two years of marriage, six months divorced, and twenty years of knowing each other, the two finally begin a strange romance under the kids' relieved gaze.
Even two years after their divorce, the billionaire couple are still Gotham's favorite ship.
But they never look at each other on camera. No handshakes, hugs, or cheek kisses. They seem to have fallen out completely.
The only thing the media gets is footage of them arguing at a parents' meeting, and the man buys all the photos for an astronomical price.
The woman's answer is always the same: “I never loved him. We're really divorced. It wasn't because of Batman.”
The shipper penguin has a lot to say about that, but would get banned for saying it.
The old folks and kids at home, though, take it all in stride. A real couple doesn't need a marriage certificate; they can still share a bed after getting divorced.
And they get double the allowance!
A story of feigned affection turning sincere, and true hearts answering true hearts.
Please read the reader's guide.
