The Loser Becomes King

An overpoweringly strong, nurturing, devoted-husband gong x a capable but delicate, sickly shou

In the twenty-fifth year of Taichu, the hostage Crown Prince Shen Yu returns to court.

Everyone expects him to lead an army against the Zhou Kingdom and avenge his past humiliation.

Instead, he insists that his father, the emperor, hand the empire over to someone else.

"You ungrateful dog! No wonder they deposed you!" The soldiers' spit nearly lands on his face.

Gu Changyuan thinks the same. He doesn't even wait for someone else to act before he punishes this unfilial son himself.

But that very night, Shen Yu lifts the flap of his tent in the rain and climbs into his bed. He trades his rain-soaked body for a letter from the capital.

Gu Changyuan: "..."

Gu Changyuan: "I like you. I love you."

Shen Yu: "...Bullshit."

Later.

In Luochuan City, Shen Yu says, "If Changyuan wants me to live, then I'll live. Whether as a prostitute or a whore, I don't care, as long as I can stay alive."

"In troubled times, perhaps a hero must unite the realm, but I, Shen Yu, insist on fighting for what I believe in. I wager on the will of the people, on a peaceful and prosperous life, and on a wise ruler surpassing every great emperor in history."
