A note before the blurb: This was a brainless story with no writing skill or logic, written before I got a contract. I originally planned to do a major revision, but the more I revised, the more I cracked myself up. Then I thought, this was my first novel, after all, so I'll leave it as it is to remember it by. (If you're interested, feel free to give it a read. If it doesn't work for you, just drop it.)
Top: I have wandered the world for a thousand years for the sake of one person. From beginning to end, it has always been for him alone.
Bottom: After dying once, I learned to let go. Coming back a second time wasn't much different. But I don't want to die a third time, because I promised someone I'd stay with him forever.
Demons ran rampant across Qingcheng Mountain. Qinglin, the next sect leader, did not hesitate to protect the people, and as he lay dying, Shuying used half of his immortal essence to preserve him. That protection lasted a thousand years, until an accident shattered the protective formation and Qinglin vanished from the world.
"I only want one person to live. If a hundred years isn't enough, then a thousand; if a thousand isn't enough, then ten thousand. Every day I live, I'll keep wishing for it, without regret."
But why? Why won't you even leave me this last bit of hope? A life without a happy ending is no better than one long dream.
In the dream, Shuying was a great general of a kingdom, and Qinglin was its prince. Neither remembered their past, yet sparks still flew between them.
When others returned victorious, they were promoted or made rich. Why was he the only one being pressured to marry? Fine, he'd get married.
"Your Majesty, as long as I marry, will just anyone do?"
"Anyone at all. Is there someone you have your eye on? Go ahead and say it."
"Then the young prince, please."
The room instantly erupted in a cacophony: wine spilled, chopsticks fell, people toppled off their chairs...
The great general Xie Shuying was tall and unruly, and usually the one bullying others, until the day he met his little prince.
Bullying him? No such thing. He could hardly dote on him enough.
But why did this little prince keep poking him right in the heart, always aiming for the sorest spot?
Gu Qinglin is secretly in love and deeply devoted, but doesn't know how to express his feelings. Still, he's always been a diligent student. He learns from Xie Shuying, from romance stories, and adds a bit of his own insight. It's easy for him to get exactly what he wants. (A seductive beauty.)
A carefree, flirtatious general on the surface, but a devoted lover underneath x a cool, heartless-looking prince who is secretly clever and mischievous.

The thing Yan Bugui regrets most is forming a contract with a spirit called "Zhong Buli." It would be bad enough that he's greedy, sleepy, and always getting into trouble, but he also has the makings of a jinx.
Running into demons while investigating a wanted notice is normal enough. He can even put up with entering someone else's body in a night forest illusion. But what's with encountering the nearly extinct "Ten Monsters of the Netherworld" just by taking a boat?
And then there's the accidental trip to the Valley of Passion. He doesn't even want to talk about it. They could have just left, but Zhong Buli insisted on keeping him there for years. Before he could even get angry, the guy clutched his chest, coughed out a puff of smoke, and put on a feeble act: "Master, I can't walk anymore. Can you carry me?"
The day the immortal sect came to attack, Zhong Li's soul scattered and his spirit shattered while saving Yan Bugui.
Once Yan Bugui regained his memories, he felt no gratitude, only hatred. He hated that he had given his heart to the wrong person. He hated that after Zhong Li had kept him in bed all night, he had then killed him with his own hands.
"If you'd known this would happen, Master, would you still have brought me back?"
"I would have killed you from the very start."
A sword through the chest,
body and soul destroyed,
Am I truly so unforgivable?
A baleful star, a demon, an evil seed: these were the reasons Zhong Li had no choice but to kill Yan Bugui.
But fate?
He would defy heaven and change it.
Gathering the three souls and seven spirits, I will trade my fate for yours. Even if calamity falls upon me, I will accept it gladly. But when your soul returns to where it belongs, I suddenly want to see you one more time.
Who could have guessed...
"Didn't you say you got together with me to find my weakness? Zhong Li, if the soup of forgetfulness hadn't brought back the past, how much longer would you have kept lying to me?"
Bonus scene:
Years later, Zhong Li pulls Yan Bugui back onto the bed. Yan Bugui immediately kicks him, saying as he does, "Go die."
Zhong Li wraps his arms around him and chuckles. "You'll cry if I die, so I think I'll stay alive."
