The entire story is complete. Welcome to read!
Fu Chengyu, the greatest treacherous official of the Northern Li Kingdom, died at the hands of the loyal minister Shen Bohuai. They had loved each other since youth and spent years by each other's side, but fate had other plans. "If there is another life, I will never fail you again."
After poisoning his beloved in his previous life, Shen Bohuai is reborn. The first thing he does is enter the palace and obtain an imperial marriage decree, then force his way into Fu Chengyu's home and seize him as his husband.
But he discovers that he is the only one with memories of their past.
Fu Chengyu has forgotten. He has no memories of their past, and what he can't stop thinking about is the "gentleman" Shen Bohuai used to be: gentle, obedient, and considerate.
The man in front of him now is a brazen robber who broke into his home, an obnoxious yandere, and a lunatic.
Shen Bohuai: It's just an act. I can pretend to be obedient, as long as I get what I want.
"I pour the clear autumn into wine and invite my beloved to share a cup."
Shen Bohuai gently raises the cup filled to the brim and says with a smile, "Will you accept?"
A slender, pale hand takes the cup. Its owner smiles and drains it.
The full moon hangs high. The fragrance of osmanthus fills the air, and the crab is plump and delicious, served with black vinegar. Clear rice wine is the most intoxicating, and Fu Chengyu has never been able to hold his liquor.
Shen Bohuai drops all his pretense and stares at the person before him like prey. But he lacks the courage and has already lost his heart. The next day, he even pinches the leg under the quilt and keeps up the act. "You said you liked me calling you Erlang. Call you Erlang, and you'll be gentler."
Fu Chengyu feels as if he's standing at the edge of a cliff. A crack spreads beneath his feet, then everything crumbles, and he plummets into an endless abyss, utterly at a loss.
"Divorce me? Fu Lang, on what grounds? Because we have no children?"
"Once black and white have blended into one, they are no longer black and white."
"I thought everyone in the world knew Fu Chengyu was my life. I never imagined anyone would question it. If that's the case, then you can all be buried with him..."
CP: A clingy, jealous little drama queen on the surface, secretly playing the pig to eat the tiger, a decisive and loyal-dog gong X a fake tyrant who seems vicious but is actually sincere and affectionate, loves without realizing it, and is a pure-hearted shou who dotes on his husband.
[Reading Guide]
1. Fu Chengyu x Shen Bohuai. Fu is the shou, Shen is the gong. Don't mix them up.
2. The shou is tight-lipped early on. Later, the gong spoils him until he gets carried away. He not only finds his voice, but becomes quite sharp-tongued.
3. Both are virgins, and they only love each other, in this life and the last.
4. Short flashbacks are interspersed throughout the story.
Currently updating: "The Master's Beloved Disciple". Blurb below.
Yan Bugui's greatest regret was making a pact with a spirit named "Zhong Buli." It was bad enough that he was greedy, sleepy, and troublesome. He also had the unlucky constitution of a jinx.
Answering a call for help and encountering a demon was more or less normal. Yan Bugui could even put up with entering someone else's body in an enchanted forest at night. But what was he supposed to make of running into the nearly extinct "Ten Monsters of the Underworld" while traveling by boat?
And then there was their accidental trip to Hehuan Valley. Yan Bugui didn't even want to talk about it. They could have left right away, but Zhong Buli insisted on staying for years. Before Yan Bugui could get angry, the spirit clutched his chest, coughed out a puff of smoke, and played weak. "Master, I can't walk anymore. Can you carry me?"
The day the Immortal Sect came to attack, Zhong Li sacrificed himself to save Yan Bugui, his soul shattered.
After regaining his memories, Yan Bugui felt no gratitude, only hatred. He hated that his love had been misplaced. He hated that Zhong Li had spent the night with him, then killed him with his own hands.
"If Master had known this would happen, would you still have taken me in?"
"I would have killed you from the start."
A sword pierces my chest,
my soul is utterly destroyed.
Am I so unforgivable?
The Earth Fiend Star, a demon, an evil seed: these were the reasons Zhong Li had to kill Yan Bugui.
But fate?
He insists on defying Heaven and changing it.
Gathering the three souls and seven spirits, I will exchange my fate for yours. Even if I must bear the tribulation, I will welcome it gladly. Yet when my soul returns to where it belongs, I suddenly want to see you once more.
Who could have guessed...
"Didn't you say you got together with me to find my weakness? Zhong Li, if the past hadn't surfaced in the Meng Po soup, how much longer would you have kept it from me?"
Bonus scene:
Years later, Zhong Li pulls Yan Bugui back onto the bed. Yan Bugui kicks him and says, "Go die."
Zhong Li embraces him and laughs softly. "You'll cry if I die, so I'd better stay alive."
