If this had happened before, Jiang Fengnian would never have imagined that there could be a lunatic like this, someone who could barge into his life without restraint and oppose him at every turn.

The other man keeps saying he loves him, yet constantly strips away his disguises, exposing him first as an NPC in disguise and then as a fellow player...

This lunatic plays the quest boss in “Candlelit Dinner.” Jiang Fengnian, disguised as an NPC, keeps provoking and testing him, only to anger him and end up forcibly bound to him in “Fated.”

After the quest ends, the lunatic deliberately drags him into the punishment instance “Judgment,” where they play a bloody game of death between a reaper and a demon. Smiling, the other man presses a rose into his hand. “Actually, you got that saying wrong. A rose... suits you best.”

The saying was supposed to be the “blessing” [sarcasm] he'd written: “A rose suits you. Take it, and accept my protection.”

Jiang Fengnian always thought this was just a merciless game of hunting and killing.

Until the other man turns make-believe into reality in “Dreams Come True,” kisses him by force, and casually exposes his identity as a player. When the quest results are tallied, the other man smiles and says, “There's a saying that if someone loses the same person three times in a row, they'll... go mad...”

“Have you ever heard it?”

It's not a question. It's a warning.

Only later does he learn just how insane this madness... really is.

Jiang Fengnian (bottom): Cool and inhuman NPC, aloof and sharp-tongued, seemingly gentle on the outside but mad within
