[Gentle, determined small-town girl x proud, once-in-a-generation talent who remains proud after losing his sight]
Mutual pining | From university to the city | Each other's first love | Both virgins
"You stood in the rain, and I could hear your heart beating."
1.
If secret love needed a research report, Wen Shuning's would be filled with nothing but Gao Yansheng's name.
Gao Yansheng, the most dazzling talent in the business school at Donghai University, once had a galaxy of admirers orbiting him.
But then he lost his sight.
2.
In the damp, hazy plum-rain season, Wen Shuning looked up beneath her umbrella.
Gao Yansheng stood in the rain. His white cane was snapped in two, and rain slid down his cool, striking features. The distant moon that had once seemed to shine from above the clouds couldn't even find his way forward now.
Carrying feelings she had never shared, she walked over and held her umbrella over him.
"I'll take you home."
He paused, then the corners of his lips lifted. "...Wen Shuning?"
So he recognized her voice.
She used to only dare look at him from afar. He was dazzling and distant, a dream she hadn't dared disturb throughout her youth.
Only when he fell from the heights did she finally find the courage to reach out: picking up his scattered books, guiding him around the crowds, and gently taking his wrist when he was lost.
She hid all her excitement and pretended their meetings were chance.
But she didn't know that, in the darkness, he had already learned to recognize her footsteps.
3.
The darkness was not empty.
Little by little, Gao Yansheng learned to "see" her with his other senses: the warmth of her fingertips, the faint scent of her hair, and the breath she quietly held beside his ear.
Later, he learned to want something more.
Like listening to her breath grow uneven in the quiet of night, when no one else knew.
"I could have borne the darkness, if I hadn't seen the sun." But you came, and even the long night grew warm.
Up next: When Snow Falls and Love Collapses
Quiet, dependable, fatherly older man x free-spirited younger woman who loves boldly
Snowbound mountain lodge / Reunited with an ex / Reconciliation after a breakup / Each other's first love
Fu Wei and Zhou Qian had an ugly breakup.
She thought he was too controlling and tried to manage everything. He thought she had no plans for the future and treated life like a game.
They hurled cruel words at each other, wishing never to cross paths again and to be strangers until death.
But fate loves a clumsy joke. Her best friend's wedding in the snowy mountains came with an invitation for him, too.
Fu Wei put on a fake smile for the camera while rolling her eyes inwardly. The crowd teasing her shoved her to stand beside him, leaving them with a photo full of scowls.
Their friend, playing the emcee, stood before the fireplace and shouted, "Let's wish for a love that burns as brightly as this fire and never goes out!"
Before he had even finished, a thunderous roar came from the mountains in the distance.
The white wave of the avalanche swallowed every sound.
Through the scattered roses, the overturned champagne tower, and the lingering terror on everyone's faces, Fu Wei opened her eyes in the pale light. The first person she saw was still Zhou Qian, standing at the opposite end of the room.
Communications were down, and supplies were limited.
The place that had once held their loudest youth and their most passionate love had instantly turned from a romantic wedding venue into a frozen island of survival.
At first, Zhou Qian managed to keep up his irritatingly calm demeanor. He even offered her a word of comfort: "Don't be afraid."
Fu Wei didn't want his sympathy. She'd rather he go completely silent, like he did when they broke up, than act calm now as if he were doing her a favor.
But while sorting through the supplies, she discovered that the bottle of strong whiskey she'd buried years ago had been carefully wrapped in velvet by him and tucked into the most hidden corner of her room.
"Zhou Qian," she asked hoarsely beside the leaping fire,
"what's the meaning of this?"
He didn't answer.
His old controlling nature and constant lecturing had turned into meticulous, thoughtful arrangements. Her old carefree ways had turned into cautious consideration for each other. For a while, Fu Wei thought that if the blizzard never stopped, maybe they really could get back together here.
But on the seventh day, when the last cans of food had been opened and he calmly laid out his plan to risk going outside for help,
Fu Wei slapped him in front of everyone.
"Listen."
"Don't even think about going alone."
"If we leave, we leave together. If we stay, we stay together."
"We either live together or die together."
The blizzard sealed off the mountains, leaving them alone in a world of snow.
In the face of despair, love was the only thing that grew wild.

Thank you to heaven, thank you to earth, thank you for your hard work~
Oops, I thought I needed to take a break after watching Best Actor Zhou, but I didn't expect that the new article already has more than 30 chapters. I read this in one breath, and I support it a lot! I like the confident look of the male protagonist, take it easy~
"She was annoyed for a moment why..." This is a big bug for the author~ glasses
I really thought about taking the objective questions in the law test. When I left the examination room, I felt top-heavy and hungry. Later, my junior classmate asked me if I had any suggestions. I told him to bring a piece of chocolate...
When can we be together?
