After a winter snowfall, a child who looked about seven or eight, with rabbit ears atop his head, dragged a shovel taller than himself into the woods alone. He dug a hole beneath a tree and decided to bury himself in it.
There was a pile of dead leaves at the foot of the tree. He picked some up and found a tiny, trembling "snowball" curled beneath them. The weather was bitterly cold, and the little creature in his hands craved the child's warmth, pitifully burrowing into his palm.
The child dropped the shovel and carried the fluffy bundle, just as lonely as he was, back to the empty wooden cabin. That winter, two little rabbits each lost their families, and one found the other.
From then on, one rabbit had a baby bunny all his own.
