You're the Only One for Me

Xia Yi is a young and beautiful university lecturer. She’s thirty and has never even had a first love. Everyone says there must be something wrong with her, but no one has ever seen her show interest in women, either?

She goes on a blind date with Lu Li, the famously cold and indifferent archaeology PhD who has no interest in women.

Although she has plenty going for her and is getting older, Xia Yi knows exactly what kind of partner she wants. She only agreed to the blind date to do an acquaintance a favor.

Before they’ve even met, the man curtly tells her,

“Don’t waste your time on me. If you’re interested in someone, go find somebody else.”

Fuming, Xia Yi replies just to get under his skin, “Let’s talk about that after I hear your lecture tomorrow.”

But when they finally meet, he stops talking about how she shouldn’t bother and instead keeps pestering her for her phone number.

Lu Li is an archaeology PhD who studies ancient tombs and works at a research institute. He never says more than a few words to women, and at thirty, he’s still single.

His supervisor arranged the blind date, and he had no choice but to go. Besides, it was set up as a lecture, so he couldn’t very well refuse.

Who could have guessed that the female lecturer would capture all his attention without saying a word, simply by sitting there? It was as if he’d seen her somewhere before. The more he looked at her, the more familiar she seemed.

Even his colleagues and classmates, who usually looked down on everyone, had started smiling warmly at him. They also seemed to look at Xia Yi differently by the day.

Irritated, Lu Li swept away, snapping, “What a clever trick.”

That day, she stood at his door with her bag on her back, frowning. “I keep having nightmares at night. I don’t plan to stay here anymore. I’m going back to my hometown.”

He stared at her in silence for a long time.

At last, his Adam’s apple bobbed as he said softly,

“I’m afraid at night too. I need to go back to my hometown as well. Take me with you.”
