A seaside town in a foreign country in summer. The waves glitter dazzlingly beneath the sun, and the air is sticky and sweltering.

Sweat soaks through thin clothes, clinging tightly to the skin and making it almost impossible to breathe. The heat leaves everyone restless and irritable.

In front of a detached house, a tall young man with a suitcase between his feet holds a cigarette between his fingers. He turns his head and smiles faintly at the strange woman beside him.

He has the sort of strikingly handsome face that charms people, and he seems to know it. So, with practiced ease and utter naturalness, he effortlessly draws enamored glances and shy blushes from those around him.

The flare of his cigarette briefly lights his profile. Against the deepening dusk and dense green foliage, he looks so vivid that it's impossible to look away, yet somehow he makes He Hanqing inexplicably angry.

He Hanqing strides over. His voice comes out low, with an impatient eagerness he can't quite suppress. "Move."

"Didn't you say the door wouldn't open?"

He holds a key in his broad palm, a key damp with sweat.

The old key, worn from years of use, seems suddenly to come to life, turning into a fish thrashing in his hand. It slips so badly that he almost drops it.

Unlike He Hanqing, Chen Zhou has hardly changed in the past two years. Out of the corner of his eye, He Hanqing sees him give a slightly surprised, quiet laugh and make room for him.

Still so gentlemanly, still so adept at setting hearts aflutter.

"So it's you... We meet again."

The key takes some effort to fit into the lock.

Click. The door opens.

With that crisp sound, summer finally arrives in the little town.

Content warnings:

The bottom used to only top.

The bottom is not a virgin. Former friends with benefits who never made it to bed reunite after mistaking each other's sexual roles.
