*A twisted rich young lady x a lovesick, lowly, devoted guard dog of a bodyguard
To recover the treasure stolen from the Nanxiu Manor, the young lady Yu Zhu takes matters into her own hands. She disguises herself as Ming Yu, the long-lost daughter of the Ming family, who is about to return to the capital and reunite with her family, but is unlucky enough to fall ill and die on the way. Then she moves into the Ming household.
The Ming couple, overjoyed to have their beloved daughter back, wish they could worship her like a goddess. They even buy several bodyguards to protect her personally.
The leader has broad shoulders and a narrow waist, and a flawless face. When they first meet, he takes an assassin's arrow for her. Crimson blood seeps through his chest as he lowers his eyes and kneels before her. "Your subordinate is He Qing. I am commanded to keep you safe, Miss."
Yu Zhu's eyes light up. This bodyguard is not only well-built, he can take pain, too. You can't find such a choice morsel to her taste back at the manor.
She enjoys playing the Ming family's daughter. The man obeys her every word. Even when she makes an outrageous demand, he only lowers his eyes and says he will do whatever she wishes.
Later, Yu Zhu gets what she came for and fakes her death to escape. Standing amid the thick smoke and raging flames, she bids farewell to He Qing, whom she knocked unconscious beforehand. She feels a little regretful.

She sees He Qing again six months later.
On a desolate mountainside, the man, gaunt as deadwood, clutches a gravestone. His eyes are full of a love so intense it borders on grief. Yet he does not dare carve even a name into the stone, only the crooked characters for "Miss."
The villagers say he is mad. The Ming family had him brutally punished for desecrating the belongings of Miss Ming, breaking the bones in his hands and legs and leaving him here to fend for himself.
Yu Zhu had no idea that the silent bodyguard who endured pain without complaint was so deeply in love with her. She can't help sighing at the thought, and is just about to take him back when the man uses his broken hand to draw the old sword at his waist and points it straight at her throat. Like a ferocious wolfhound, he glares at her with bloodshot eyes and says, "Don't touch him."
Yu Zhu narrows her eyes and gives a playful smile. She almost forgot: she's not Ming Yu anymore.
But doesn't that make it even more fun?
After all, she loves nothing more than forcing someone to be hers.

Later.
Yu Zhu kneels with the man before Ming Yu's memorial tablet. With a teasing smile, she asks whose man he really is. Now that he serves a new master, doesn't that mean he has betrayed his former one?
Kneeling devotedly at her feet, the man meets her mocking gaze and pulls open his collar, revealing the scars she left all over his body.
"I have had only one master, from beginning to end."
"Please... don't leave me again."
