A Compendium of Sealed Aberrant Creatures

Three years ago, I traveled all over the world with my dad, filming wildlife documentaries: grasslands, deserts, wetlands, the Gobi... I followed in his footsteps to many places and got a glimpse of this vast world.

Just as I was getting excited and thinking I'd go into this line of work someday, my dad started acting strangely. After that, he never took me along again.

One time, my dad took his crew to film in a mysterious tribe. After they returned, the people on his team began aging rapidly, and he was no exception. I was desperate to know why and how to save them, but my dad strictly forbade me from going there. He said he had spoken disrespectfully and offended the mountain god.

A mountain god? I thought. That's just superstition. No spirits are allowed to become real after the founding of the country!

After that, I happened to discover that the crooked-beaked crow that often came to my windowsill at night could speak human language...

And it wasn't just the crow. Every animal I saw from then on could speak human language!

I suddenly realized that perhaps it wasn't that they could speak human language, but that I could understand animal speech...

This world was too bizarre. As a staunch materialist, I had to get to the bottom of it. So I used travel as an excuse to leave home and began investigating these strange signs on my own.

Along the way, I met a man so handsome he looked like a god, but there was something about his eyes... I sensed a trace of murderous energy in them.

The godlike man said he came from the Ancient Ruins of Shanbei, one of the folk organizations that investigated strange incidents. He invited me to join his team. He also said the camera I had wasn't an ordinary one, and that my dad and his crew had been cursed by a mountain spirit because of it. The only way to lift the curse was to ask his organization for help...

What mountain spirit's curse? I'd never even heard of such a thing. But to save my dad, I could only agree.

And so, I set off with this man on a road of no return...
