An Unnatural Marriage Contract

*

Ling Yu's eyes have a special ability: he can see the spiritual forms of "people." More often than not, the ones standing beside him aren't human at all.

He's known since childhood that the idea of all things coexisting, as taught in his language textbook, is real. For instance, the long-haired man leisurely sipping tea on his windowsill is actually a white-furred fox.

"Ling... Yu?" The man narrowed his eyes and looked him up and down, then raised the corners of his mouth in satisfaction. "Not bad. A weakling, sure, but at least you've got a pretty face."

Ling Yu was furious. He tried to go up and fight him, only to find that he couldn't move. "Hey! I told you, I'm not the one! You've got the wrong person!"

The white-haired man appeared in front of him in the blink of an eye. His slender fingers pinched Ling Yu's chin, and his smile never faded. "I've got the right person. It's written there in black and white on the marriage contract, Ling Yu: my marriage partner."

Ling Yu: "..." Are you messing with me on purpose?

When brute force didn't work, Ling Yu tried a softer approach. He forced a stiff smile and asked, "May I ask... how do I call off the marriage?"

"Simple. Put the demon market in order and bring the evil demons to justice. Then I'll tear up the marriage contract with one swipe of my claw." The white-haired man said it so casually, as though it were no trouble at all.

Ling Yu's vision went black. He was only an ordinary mortal. He was supposed to subdue evil demons? He might as well just die and be done with it.

The white-haired man seemed even happier at the sight of his despair. He suddenly changed back into a tiny version of his true form, bared two rows of sharp teeth, and said, "Don't worry. This lord will help you."

"Why me?"

The white fox replied, "Because I like the way you look. I liked you the moment I saw you."

Ling Yu: "..." Please go away, you pain in the neck.
