The Invisible Boundary

Lin Su comes from a poor family. He's a child from a single-parent household, his mother is disabled, and he has a younger brother who's just started first grade. He can barely keep studying with government assistance and part-time jobs.

During the summer after his first year of high school, he was an apprentice at a hair salon. While practicing, he met a handsome boy and accidentally ruined his haircut without realizing it.

Lin Su quickly apologized. The boy was cheerful about it and simply told him to cut it all down to a buzz cut, saying, "It's fine. It'll grow back in a couple of days anyway."

The second time Lin Su met Chen Suyan was a month after the haircut incident. Lin Su was serving dishes at a restaurant when he looked up and saw him. What a coincidence, it was the same guy.

But Chen Suyan seemed not to remember him. He glanced at Lin Su and thanked him politely.

Right then, Lin Su's stomach growled twice at the worst possible moment. Chen Suyan laughed and said, "Let me treat you."

They met for the third time in class. Chen Suyan was the new transfer student, and he even sat next to Lin Su. The first thing Lin Su said wasn't hello, but, "Add me on WeChat. I'll pay you back."

Many years later, Lin Su confessed to the man sitting before him, "Actually, I had cash in my hand at the time. I just wanted to add you on WeChat. I did it on purpose."

Chen Suyan smiled warmly. "So you'd had your eye on me from that early on."

Lin Su thought, Even earlier. I was taken with you at first sight.
