The road to the organization's most secret laboratory is eerily quiet. No wonder, Scotland thinks. This is clearly a road to hell, a grueling journey from which there is no return to freedom. Gin is walking ahead of him. "I don't know why the boss ultimately chose you," he says, "but congratulations anyway. At least you're not useless."
He opens the laboratory door. "Lie down," he says. "Someone will come and make sure of your... loyalty."
Scotland lets out a breath. System, he calls in his mind to the nuisance that's been harassing him nonstop for the past six months. If I agree to your request and take part in that whatever game... can you keep the organization from brainwashing me?
Ah, what an unbelievably good deal! The thing in his head makes a token show of politeness. "Well then, Scotland, lie down. My game is about to begin."
"I'll give you some guidance during the beginner's tutorial," it says. "Now, let's draw a card."
So Scotland lies down on the examination table in silence, watched by Gin and countless researchers behind the one-way glass.
Then he hears a box being shaken.
"Wow, nice luck. A green... Killing card." Electrodes are attached to his chest and head. As an IV needle pierces his arm, the voice keeps talking to itself. "Hiromitsu Morofushi," it says gleefully, "I'm afraid that once you come out of that lengthy brainwashing, you'll accidentally kill a researcher because of your trauma response."
"What if I don't do that?" Scotland asks before the anesthetic makes him lose consciousness completely.
The voice laughs at him. "Just give it a try," it says, "and you'll find out exactly what happens."
☆ The ultimate work of the unreliable-narrator, misunderstanding-fueled, Scotland-only fan. A delicious Hiromitsu-centric story.
☆ I really am Scotland's biggest fan, but isn't making stuff like this what a fan does?
☆ Our little Scotland is going to get a Lust card alongside his teammates, but this is still no CP.
☆ Never mind me. I'm just being wicked and making jokes like this.
