When Gin called Scotch back to Japan, he was met with the terrible news that his partner had been exposed.
"Poor little Scotch," Vermouth's voice came through the phone. "If you hurry over there now, you might still make it in time to collect Rye's corpse."
With a heavy heart, he went to the rooftop where Gin had supposedly killed Rye, only to find a green-eyed child in a knitted cap wriggling among a pile of clothes. The child crawled out, and the two stared at each other.
Scotch froze in shock. So, Rye, your true form really is a knitted cap.
Before they could even exchange pleasantries, Scotch heard footsteps in the stairwell outside the rooftop. It took him a second to recognize them as those of his childhood friend who had gone astray, and several more seconds to work out what to do. Keep Rye alive in front of Bourbon? He thought. That would be an extreme challenge, but he did have some experience
He scooped the child into his arms. "Pretend you've lost your memory. Quick," he whispered in Rye's ear.
Then the rooftop door flew open, and Scotch felt a piercing gaze on his back. Come on, it's time to put your undercover skills to work, he thought, looking expectantly at Rye. Say something and save yourself, then he saw the cold-blooded, cool-as-ice FBI agent blink cutely at him. "Mommy, is this Daddy?"
...Seriously, man.
Bourbon's stare grew even more piercing. Behind him, Scotch heard the voice of his childhood friend, edged with anger. "I didn't know you were so close to that damned traitor," he said, with a subtle hint of jealousy. "Close enough to help him raise his kid?"
Even the child in front of him now gave him a different kind of look.
Scotch started to speak, stopped, started again, then finally gave up struggling. It's fine, he thought. What does a little damage to his reputation matter if it keeps his partner safe? At least the three of them were still alive, and none of them was about to kill the others just yet. The more urgent matter was dealing with Gin.
☆ What's this? The Whiskey Group? Let's make up some rumors!
☆ I'm really a huge Scotch fan, but isn't making this kind of stuff exactly what huge fans do?
☆ A lighthearted distillery comedy featuring three people on the good side who don't share intel: Rei and Hiromitsu as childhood friends, but separated along the way; an alternate timeline where Rye and Scotch share their identities after the train incident; an alternate timeline where Shuichi Akai gets turned into a child; an undercover-family roleplay alternate timeline for the Whiskey Group.
☆ Don't mind me, I'm just being wicked and making jokes.
Theme: The three of us make a happy little family~
