The Introvert and Mr. Nice Guy

Gu Yansheng was born into a happy family and was a rich second-generation heir, but he was famous throughout the second-generation social circle for being an oddball. Not because he did anything outrageous, but because he never lost his temper. Whenever anyone asked him for help, he basically never said no. Everyone teased him by calling him "Mr. Nice Guy."

Mr. Nice Guy had a childhood friend, Jiang Lin, with whom he was very close. Jiang Lin came from an unhappy family, was of modest means, cold and unsociable, yet so capable that he had made himself into a self-made tycoon. Everyone thought someone like him should be the more perceptive "Mr. Nice Guy," but instead he was a social "insulator": sharp-tongued and cold, he was someone no one wanted to get close to.

"Jiang Lin, Fan Zhong's mom was diagnosed with a brain tumor at the Second City Hospital. He wants to come to your hospital, so..." At the dinner table, Mr. Nice Guy put a beef rib in Jiang Lin's bowl. He looked at him with big, round puppy eyes. Today, he really couldn't turn down the desperate look in Fan Zhong's eyes, so he'd bought some nice food and come over.

"Gu Yansheng, Fan Zhong bumped into you during the 100-meter relay at the school sports meet in seventh grade!"

The social insulator stuffed the beef rib into his mouth, then cleared away the dishes and headed for the kitchen. Mr. Nice Guy chewed and tried to remember, but he had no recollection of it at all. They'd been working for years by now. Who would remember a middle school sports meet?

"Everyone makes mistakes when they're young."

"I don't!"

The social insulator didn't look back at him. Mr. Nice Guy sighed helplessly.

"So you're really not going to help? Auntie Fan is innocent."

The puppy eyes looked a little disappointed, a little sad...

The cuff of Mr. Insulator's rolled-up sleeve slipped down into the sudsy dishwater...

"Come see me in the outpatient clinic tomorrow at noon. I need to look at the scans first."

Jiang Lin, the "emotionally unavailable man who doesn't realize he's in love" x Gu Yansheng, the "Mr. Nice Guy with rain-induced skin hypersensitivity"
