My Nemesis Became My Symbiote

In the year 112 of the Nova Era

After the Third Interstellar War, the Federation launched a program to create super-soldiers by combining biology with humans, in an effort to address the population shortage. The Hummingbird Biochemical Laboratory began experimenting with the remains of fallen soldiers and insectoid parasites, but the explosion at Laboratory B-17 forced the program to shut down.

Lu Chenye, a law student at A University and the top student in the forensic biology program, lost his younger brother Lu Yang in that explosion. Lu Yang's body was mysteriously found in a reservoir. The death report said he had drowned, but Lu Chenye had taught him to swim, and he didn't believe the report. At the same time, when he started school, he found his younger brother Lu Yang's signature on a burned piece of paper belonging to Lin Wuyin, the boy hailed as a genius...

"You shouldn't have come here now..." Lin Wuyin's icy breath brushed Lu Chenye's Adam's apple, his needle-like pupils gleaming an eerie blue. As his black glove fell onto the moss, the fingertips he kept wrapped in silk pressed against the other man's violently throbbing carotid artery. Pale blue veins wound beneath his skin, as cold as frost and snow.

The moment his canine teeth pierced the skin, Lu Chenye gripped the loose hair at the back of his neck through the pain. Glowing blue filaments emerged from Lin Wuyin's pale skin, curling around his wrist like living creatures.

The blood in Lu Chenye's body boiled furiously. His heart raced to its limit, and the feeling of dying left him gasping for breath as disordered images flooded his mind.

"Xiao Wu... Xiao Wu..."

The words replayed in his mind alongside the scene of Lu Yang drowning. Lin Wuyin, who shouldn't have been there, stood behind Lu Yang, his mouth split by a terrifying smile...

Lu Chenye collapsed unconscious in the laboratory. Red spattered Lin Wuyin's face, impossible to wipe away. When he came to his senses, he crouched down and pulled open Lu Chenye's clothes. Beneath his well-defined torso, the same blue filaments as the ones on the back of his neck glimmered, twisted into strange, beautiful knots and clusters.

"Lu Chenye, don't blame me. You're the one who barged in..."

Lin Wuyin disappeared into the rainy night...
