Working Under the Table in My Dreams

Jiang Yi, a middle-school teacher, visits a cinema while traveling. Legend says mermaids once lived there, and anyone who falls asleep inside can dream of whatever they want.

Other people have sweet dreams, but the moment he steps inside, Jiang Yi starts having nightmares.

In his dream, he sees his twenty-year-old self being hunted. With nowhere left to run, that younger self crawls inside his chest.

From then on, one body holds two souls.

He also discovers that his “peaceful past” was nothing but a fabrication.

To recover his memories, he seeks out a legendary, mysterious person.

This person is a girl who looks sixteen or seventeen, known in the underworld as “Heng.” She has green hair, keeps a low profile in the middle of the city, and works as a community support worker at the Shuishe Street Community Center.

The green-haired girl is an expert dream-weaver, able to enter other people's memories and travel between reality and the past.

When Teacher Jiang asks her to help him recover his memories, she readily agrees, but on one condition: he has to work for her.

Jiang Yi looks over the petite girl in front of him, a green-haired punk who even looks a little malnourished.

She can't sell me off, can she?

Modern setting, fantasy elements, truth and lies intertwined. Originally titled “Tonight, I'm Having a Wet Dream.”

First-person narration from the male lead, without the typical male-oriented-novel feel (approved unanimously by two beta readers). One-on-one romance.

The male lead has a split personality: an innocent, kind, people-pleasing side versus a cold, cunning genius dream-weaver. The former is the primary personality.

A silly, sweet, happy puppy of a male lead with a complicated background X an unconventional, mysterious female lead with maxed-out magical power.

Theme: The world is vast.
