The Deaf Boy at the Elite Academy

(A short story of around 10,000 words)

In a secluded corner of the classroom sits a slender, hearing-impaired boy. He seems timid and shy, but he excels at his studies, having earned admission to Shengde High School as a commoner and repeatedly taken first place.

On his first day at school, the arrogant principal came to welcome this commoner, as protocol demanded. The boy wore a faded shirt, his fingers nervously clutching the hem, his head bowed low.

Concealing his distaste, the principal forced a gentle smile and patted the boy's shoulder, telling him to look up and not to be nervous. The boy's body trembled. His overly long bangs hid his forehead and eyelashes, revealing a patch of snow-white cheek.

He looked at the principal as if grateful. He had thought a bright and brilliant future awaited him, but what lay ahead was endless bullying and ridicule.

There is no virtue at Shengde High School, only power and money. For commoners who come here, there is only one road: death. The young masters and misses are just short of playthings and obedient dogs.
