I Don't Get It, I'm an NPC!

A troublemaking-on-autopilot housekeeper System character x unlucky protagonist Long Aotian CEO Host

Ren Ji is a rookie redemption System.

After failing to bind with a Host, Ren Ji had no choice but to rent a human shell and apply to become the housekeeper of his Host, Chu Yue.

Without a binding, even completing missions means having to pay a hefty fee.

Penniless and down on his luck, Ren Ji can only take odd jobs. If there isn't a position available, he creates one himself.

For example, he causes trouble on autopilot at work, making things a little difficult for Chu Yue before helping him sort them out, all to earn one or two pitiful System coins.

When he gets home after work, he plops down on his charger, leaving the System outside his shell, just like a slime. When he's happy, he's round; when he's unhappy, he's pointy; when he's tired, he's flat.

Today, Ren Ji is flat and doesn't want to go to work.

Everyone in their circle says the young man by Chu Yue's side is definitely more than just a housekeeper.

He's always calm and composed, handles matters with ease, and is ruthless when he strikes. He's helped Chu Yue through crises countless times, and no cunning scheme can escape his notice.

He's repeatedly turned down lucrative offers from headhunters, choosing to stay by Chu Yue's side as his housekeeper. It sounds awfully intimate.

But no one has ever doubted Ren Ji's innocence.

After all, a lover wouldn't spill coffee on their boss's crotch, lead him into a glass door, or slam the car door on his long legs day after day.

When there isn't any danger around, Ren Ji is the greatest danger of all.

Chu Yue used to be just as sure of his own innocence, until one day he accidentally video-called Ren Ji.

Across the screen, Chu Yue silently stared at a flat blob of slime.

The slime spoke in Ren Ji's voice: "Sorry, Mr. Chu. Let me put on some clothes."

Then, right in front of him, it slipped into the human shell beside it.

The elite housekeeper blinked awake, with a long power cord trailing behind him.

Ren Ji wanted to erase Chu Yue's memory, but memory-erasing water cost a million System coins.

He couldn't afford it.

[Bonus Scene 1]

Chu Yue: Next time we video-call, could you hide the power cord behind you?

Ren Ji: Why?

Chu Yue: Humans are a really dirty, awful species.

Ren Ji: I don't get it. I'm a robot.

Chu Yue: Take off the shell. Let's see your CPU.

Ren Ji: ?
